Updates and information...
Dear faculty and staff,
After this week, we hope to be able to begin some of our usual May tasks involved with closing the school year. As you know from my email update last week, we are expected to begin phase 1 of less restrictions beginning May 4th. If that indeed happens, we will move forward with our plans to close out this year. After the expected proclamation tomorrow, I will send you the specific days that you are expected to report to work. We know that we need at least 1 full day with each of you and will need to be focused and efficient to get it all done. More details to follow but please begin thinking about arrangements for your children as we have to follow the guidelines and remain under the number allowed. We will also begin working on contracts for next year. This will all be electronic this year. You will get an email soon about Doc Hub and how to esign your forms when they are ready. We're learning this together so I'm sure we will have some questions. Please check your email often and I will send out the info as soon as we are given permission to proceed. Stay safe and take care!
I'm including the info sent to parents for you to see:
Parents,
At this time we are working on plans for PK & K registration. We will release the dates by the end of this week. It will be sometime the week of June 1st-5th.We will be following guidelines for social distancing and will send specific guidance for directions. We are asking that only 1 parent attend registration, wear a mask, and bring your own pen to use. See the list of required items below that you will need for registration. Current PK students do not need to register for K if they will be attending South Fork again. We are setting a date for the photographer to come and do K cap and gown pictures in June. This is optional and more details to follow. You will pay the photographer directly and arrange get the pictures directly from the studio. We have requested a day the week of June 8th. We will be releasing info soon about picking up student materials from classrooms. Please be on the lookout for that info to be sent out.
This week, our resource teachers will begin using their own Remind codes to communicate directly with parents. PLEASE find the code below and sign up for the appropriate Remind if your child sees any of these teachers: Mrs. Wendi LeBlanc, Mrs. Kristy Guidry, Mrs. Lavigne, Mrs. Faust, or Mrs. Camie.
The information about student promotion to the next grade will be finalized over the last month of school. For students who were in danger of retention and received a possible retention letter before the closure, it's critical that they continue working on things from the teachers. Student final grades will be determined using grades from Quarters 1 to 3 and calculated using the total points earned. If a student is close to promoting to the next grade, we can look at their work over the break and see if they've improved enough to move on. Please know that we will contact families individually (in May) if your student's promotion to the next grade is in jeopardy.
How can you help students keep learning at home?
Go to www.southforkelem.org and then click on TEACHER WEBSITES at the top. Once on their website you will be able to see resources and information about learning activities for each week. Teachers will update this weekly. Please check back to see updated information. I will continue our weekly newsletters to share information.
