Turner's Thoughts

Happy Friday Colleagues,

Today marks the last time that we will see each other in 2014. As you spend quality time with your family and friends, may you always remember the wonder and joyfulness of this holiday season! I'm not sure if I've told you, but I LOVE music , especially holiday hits. Below is one of my all time favorite holiday songs. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Finally, thank you to those individuals that submitted brags for the week. It's always nice to hear about the wonderful things that are happening on a daily basis at Elgin Elementary School. Merry Christmas and see you in 2015!

Always,

Felicia Turner

Adopt A Child

Elgin Elementary School had 13 children take part in a party, food and gifts. Each middle school homeroom class adopted a child from one of the three elementary schools. Check out some pictures from this event. Special thank you to all who helped make one of our chidden happy this holiday season.

Special Thanks from Laurie Cummings

I want to give a shout out to my pre - kindergarten team who works together well and genuinely cares for one another. I would also like to send a hank you to everyone involved making The Holiday Store possible. My students loved picking out gifts for their families.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Herring's Holiday Checklist of Brags

I am running super late on this but these women deserve so much recognition for all that they do.

Mrs. Joanna Smith ~ Thank you so much for helping me with RtI committee meetings whenever my little ones were sick. I am SO LUCKY to be working side by side with someone so knowledgeable about many different things. Thank you!!!!

Mrs. H ~ After attending a 504 training, the first thing she did was meet with mto share information regarding what she learned. 504 and RtI overlap at times and she was so gracious to spend her time after school sharing all that she learned. Thank you so much for that!!!

Mrs. Grimm ~ Thank you for getting my daughter Miranda so excited about reading! She is always so happy to tell me when she’s moved on to the next “color” of sight words and is confident in her reading abilities. Miranda has such a positive attitude about school and I know that you are a big reason behind that. Thanks for all you do for our kids!!!

This last brag goes out to Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Herrera! They did an excellent job at preparing their student’s RtI information for the next meeting in January. Keep up the good work! I know your students and their parents appreciate the extra time and attention you are putting towards helping them succeed.

Nelson's Cafe

"It's like a RESTAURANT!!!!" What an excellent (& FREE) reward for these 1st graders who went above and beyond on their homework this 6 weeks! Way to go Mrs. Nelson! ~ Krista Marx

Elgin's Very Own Rockstar....Robert Ojeda!

Elgin Elementary School NEVER gets tired of listening to the sweet sounds of our #1 musician. Don't believe me, take a look at a conversation that was overheard in the hallway on last Friday during 3rd grade lunch time:

Student: “Is that a rock star????”

Teacher: “No. That’s Mr. Ojeda.”

My thought: “Same difference!”

You have to love it! Mr. Ojeda, thanks so much for sharing your love of music with the students and staff at Elgin Elementary School.
