Guadeloupe and all it's wonders!!
By: Danielle Davis
History...
Guadeloupe's first inhabitants were Arawak Indians until a more warlike tribe of Caribs came and took over. They renamed the island Karukera which means "the island with beautiful water". Spanish explorers tried to claim the land and settle on it but the Caribs put up a great fight and the Spanish never settled. Although the Caribs beat the Spanish, they could not beat the French. The French took control over the land and settled and now the country is a french speaking country.
