Choose Joy!
Week of April 12
Today is Divine Mercy Sunday
God's Mercy and Forgiveness is granted to us infinitely when we
admit our errors,
commit to learning and growing from our errors, and
move forward dedicated to making our world a better place.
Peace be with you.

Do You Happen to Have...?
Happy Easter! In April, Mrs. Lukie will be teaching Grade 3 how to decorate pysanky, which are most commonly known as Ukrainian Easter eggs. We are looking for a few more supplies to have enough for each student.
If you have any pysanky-making tools you are willing to donate, we are looking for the following items:
- kistkas: These tools are used to melt wax and draw patterns on the egg. A kistka is sometimes called a stylus. A medium tip is best, but we are happy to take whatever is available.
- votive candles
- beeswax: bricks or sheets
- an old crock pot (for melting the wax off the egg) and a slotted spoon

Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada @ OLA This Week!
This resource assists us in understanding the past, present and future of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. There is a wealth of information and diversity of stories and voices on this map; however, we recognize that no resource will ever be able to encompass all Indigenous voices and stories.
The Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS) also recognizes that the stories told here are not ours to tell. It is for this reason that the RCGS have worked collaboratively with a number of Indigenous and ally educators and organizations from across Canada to create this resource.

New Draft Curriculum
Alberta Education released the draft K-6 curricula last week and is inviting feedback from all Albertans.
EICS will spend the next several weeks unpacking the new curriculum. We will be engaging our teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders before providing our feedback on the survey.
Our EICS educational consultants will be reviewing the new draft curriculum, and we will be engaging teachers in various grades in the review. We will also be seeking input from Alberta Education on what a possible pilot might entail - release time, professional learning, and resources.
Prior to a recommendation being made regarding piloting, EICS is committed to a comprehensive review.
We invite you to provide your feedback to Alberta Education
