Assessment for learning is the process of seeking and interpreting evidence for use by learners and their teachers to decide where the learners are in their learning, where they need to go and how best to get there.

Creating An Effective Classroom by using both sets of ideas

The five strategies along with formative and summative assessment can help enhance the effectiveness of the classroom. When teachers are teaching students it is also their duty to make sure the communication goes both ways. For example, students must be allowed to give feedback whether it is to clarify information received or if they are misunderstanding the teacher. In the five strategies the teacher and students are working together to improve the skills of each other. Classroom assessment are important because it helps collect data on student understanding which is essential to helping students move forward to a full understanding of important concepts and standards. Learners should be involved in the assessment process. Teachers and students will need to have a strong level of communication to understand each other.
