COMMUNITY PRESCHOOL EXPANSION
The pilot year has been hugely successful. Service options for the 2015-2016 school year are being expanded to include a half day program on either a two day or three day schedule. Sessions will be additionally divided into morning or afternoon sessions for each program.
DO YOU KNOW A PCSC EMPLOYEE WHO IS WORTHY OF SPECIAL RECOGNITION?
It's that time of year again! We are now taking nominations for ROSE Awards - an opportunity to Recognize an Outstanding School Employee deserving special recognition for outstanding qualities, activities, efforts or contributions.
All administrative personnel, aides, bus drivers, cafeteria staff, certified staff, counselors, custodians, nurses, and transportation staff are eligible.
Don't miss this opportunity to acknowledge our great PCSC employees! Submission deadline is March 20, 2015.

FAN SUPPORT AND ATHLETIC TICKETING INFORMATION
Community, friends and family make up an incredibly supportive force for Quaker athletes and no doubt contribute to Plainfield's consistent outstanding athletic achievements. While offering a huge THANK YOU for your support, we want to answer your questions regarding the district's pricing and distribution of athletic passes.
PHS ticketing information: Plainfield High School offers an All Sports Pass available for purchase throughout the year. Fees are prorated (and prices change) with the changing of sports seasons. Tickets are most cost effective if purchased at the beginning of the school year. See attached fee schedule for details.
Tickets can be purchased at the PHS athletics office or at any regular season home sports event. Find more PHS athletic information at www.plainfield.k12.in.us.
PLEASE NOTE: Athletic passes do not interchange between high school and middle school events.
PCMS ticketing information: The middle school charges $3 to all guests above the age of kindergarten (including students*) entering home athletic events. Families consisting of 4 or more members are capped at a total entrance charge of $10.
Middle school athletic director Dana Greene says, "When most surrounding districts are charging entrance fees of $4 or $5, we are proud to say our entrance fees have stayed the same."
*This year the middle school started a new program offering PCMS students the opportunity to purchase a fan-tshirt at the beginning of the school year for $12. The shirt comes with a pass-card. Wearing the shirt, or presenting the pass-card, allows the PCMS student to enter home athletic events at no cost (excluding tournament events). This program will continue again next year.
Also beginning next year, the middle school will introduce a discounted entrance fee of $2 for senior-citizens ages 65 and over.

Virtual Life class looking for new/gently used items
Cherrie Riddle, special education teacher at Plainfield High School, teaches Basic Skills classes for students with disabilities who do not have achievement skills necessary to earn a high school diploma. She works with students on academics and vocational skills.
Cherrie developed a virtual life curriculum in which students earn a virtual paycheck for their work at school (they all have jobs within the building and/or in our community) and are assessed charges for desk rental, utilities, etc.
"Students who attend school each day, complete their work and demonstrate appropriate behaviors, earn virtual dollars that can be used to purchase items from our [store]," explains Cherrie. "Restricted from selling candy and sodas, options for store inventory are limited in regards to affordable items that students will find motivating."
If you are interested in donating items for the PHS Virtual Life class, materials can be dropped at any school location and designated for PHS/Cherrie Riddle. Contact Cherrie at criddle@plainfield.k12.in.us.
Suggested items: video games for various systems (PS3, Xbox 360, 3DS, Wii, PS4), game controllers, adult-size sweatshirts/tshirts (school attire), sports equipment (mitts, basketballs, kickballs), electronic devices (ipod-type), novels (levels 2nd-8th grade), jewelry, purses, water bottles, travel mugs, headphones, comic books, magazines (teen-type, car, gaming), football cards, sunglasses, movies, key chains, etc.
Do you have a special skill you could share with students?
Brentwood Elementary's SUPER SATURDAY will be here before we know it! Organizers are looking for individuals to teach unique skills to students in small workshops. Three workshops will be held, back-to-back, on the day of the event - Saturday, February 21st from 9:00-11:30am.
This is a FREE workshop offered to Brentwood students every year. Expert skills are not required; looking for individuals that have the desire to teach young students something new and/or different.
Examples of past workshops: crafts, scrapbooking, stenciling, cookie decorating, sign language, foreign languages, paper flowers, magic tricks, stained glass, soap making, sports, balloon animals, and wood-working.
We welcome any new ideas that you may have for a class! Contact Rochelle at rclark@plainfield.k12.in.us.
