A Letter from the Principal

Dear Evansdale Families,

As we approach the Thanksgiving break, I want to take this opportunity to express my thanks to each one of you for all the time, talent, dedication, and generosity you give Evansdale. Because of your support, we are able to provide your students with the quality education and enrichment each of them deserves. It has warmed my heart to see how many students have expressed their thanks for teachers, education, and Evansdale on our thankful tree in the lobby. I hope you all have a very safe, relaxing, and happy Thanksgiving holiday break. I look forward to seeing everyone's smiling faces upon our return on the 28th.

Evansdale Elementary

To Those Who Helped Make Veterans Day Special at Evansdale ... Merci! Thank You!

Evansdale Elementary, in collaboration with its French Immersion and Language Team, commemorated Veteran's Day, as well as Armistice Day (France) and Remembrance Day (UK/Canada). Every student create paper coquelicots or "poppies", where they could also write down the names of veterans from their family. During morning announcements, two Fifth Grade students beautifully read the poem, "In Flanders Field" by Canadian John McCrae. Then French Immersion students from Kindergarten to 3rd grades went to all the other classes to offer madeleines to all the other students in the school as a gesture of goodwill and peace. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the entire school observed a moment of silence to remember all men and women who served in the military. We also want to recognize Ms. James' after-care group for making the Stars and Stripes wind socks! Finally, a special shout out to the Cultural Arts Committee for purchasing the madeleines. They were miam miam!

Thank you! Merci!

We Dig our Grounds Committee

The school grounds have never looked better thanks to the tireless efforts of our Grounds Committee chairs - Scott Foerst and Jerry Appleman. They, along with a small army of great volunteers, did an awesome job of beautifying Evansdale last Saturday morning. Your efforts are truly appreciated by the students, staff, and visitors.

Project List:

Here are links to the District’s recommendation for Lakeside’s addition:

At the beginning of the month, the Lakeside Cluster Summit prepared a document telling the story of our cluster which we submitted to Josh Williams of the District’s planning department. I emailed a copy of the document to everyone on the Lakeside Cluster Summit email list on November 1st. We revised some of the appendices to this document. The document with the revised appendices is attached to this email.

Thank you and have a great Thanksgiving!
