Les Bucherons

Dear Parents,

Good news - a Grant has been received that will cover the cost of Les Bucherons on February 16th for all students who attended so that fee has been removed from student accounts.

If you had paid that fee already, that amount will be sitting as a credit on your child's account or automatically be applied against other fees on your child's account.

Thank you.

March ILS: Inclusive Learning Services:

Monthly Home Connections

Learn and teach your child about colours. Help your child learn the names of different colours. Match the same or different colours, while out and about ask children to find something that is green or the same color as something else, when requesting items specify colors (please give me a blue cup) or have your kiddos request a specific color item, and label colors as often as possible throughout the conversation (I love the blue circle you made; I like your pink shirt).

OT: Play on the Floor! Sitting or laying on tummies on the floor (cobra style) is good for core muscle development, postural control and can help develop hand dominance! Read a book, do a puzzle, play a game, colour a picture.

SLP

  • Play turn taking games with your child (e.g., building a tower together, playing simple board games, taking turns blowing bubbles) and help your child use social phrases like “my turn”, “your turn” and “good job”.

Family Wellness Worker Support (FWW)

Students can visit with FWW’s for a lot of different reasons, some examples are:

  • if you are having a lot of feelings or intense feelings and need someone to talk to try to help you cope with them

  • if you are having trouble with friendships or making new friends

  • if you worry a lot

  • if you have trouble sitting still in class or focusing on your schoolwork

An FWW also supports families. Some reasons that parents or guardians may want to connect with me are if they are:

  • struggling with your child’s emotions or behavior and want support

  • wanting someone to talk to

  • looking for resources to support your child’s or your own mental health

  • struggling financially and need support with community resources
