Sensory/Motor Pathways

This year Central Road is implementing sensory/motor pathways around the school for all students to utilize during the school day. Providing students with movement opportunities throughout the day has a positive impact on learning. Getting your body moving helps to maximize sensory input to address: postural control and balance, motor planning, whole body movement skills, and visual spatial skills. Additionally, using sensory/motor pathways has cognitive and learning benefits such as addressing regulation of attention/concentration/behavior through the school day, visual sequencing skills, and working memory skills. Students can follow a pre-created map of movements which matches the pathway or use their imagination; it's been fun seeing the students engaging with this new addition to the school!

Day of Awesomeness

On Friday, October 7th, students will participate in a PTA sponsored event filled with fun for all! Our Day of Awesomeness will include obstacle courses, bouncy houses & inflatables in the back of our school. This is weather permitting only. Each grade level will participate outside for 60 minutes. Permission slips will be provided to all parents by each classroom teacher. Students are encouraged to bring an extra pair of socks and a water bottle to school on Friday, October 7th. We are very excited to have this amazing opportunity for our wonderful school and we thank our PTA for providing it for us.

MOVING D15 FORWARD

The District 15 Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution to place a bond referendum on the November 8, 2022 ballot. Doing so will allow the District to repair and restore our facilities, bring full-day kindergarten to all elementary schools, update schools libraries and some learning spaces, and ensure feeder patterns from elementary to junior high and high school providing all student access to a neighborhood or near neighborhood school. To learn even more about the proposed improvements visit www.ccsd15.net/Moving15Forward.

District 15 will be hosting informational meetings on the following dates:

  • October 6 - Thomas Jefferson Elementary School (Thomas Jefferson Middle School if the measure is approved)
