TUMUAKI KŌRERO
Kia ora e te whānau,
Welcome back to Term 3, and we hope you had a restful and relaxing holiday. Having learners back in school is excellent, and the classrooms are buzzing with excitement and quality learning. Please regularly check our website, school app, Seesaw and Facebook for upcoming events and activities in and around the school.
Covid-19 Update: At TNIS, we follow the advice and guidance from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education and strongly recommend that face masks be worn inside by learners at all times. Every classroom and learning space has an air purifier, and we have an ample supply of face masks at school for anyone who cannot provide their own.
The TNIS Way: The TNIS Way is a set of values that underpins and drives our school culture at TNIS. Teachers always refer to these values in the classroom and while playing and learning outside.
These values are:
- A Safe Learning Environment
- Effective Learning Interactions
- Wellbeing
- Everyone is a Learner
- Reflective Practice
- Caring for Others
- Working Together
- Respect for Others
- Relationships
- Affirming Learners' Cultures
Unfortunately, at the end of Term 2, we had some learners who did not follow these values. This behaviour included using racial language, gender comments, negative personal comments, and 'put-downs'. This behaviour will not be tolerated at TNIS and will be acted upon swiftly. It would be helpful if you would talk with your child about the importance of these values and the impact that strong values have on a safe and happy learning environment for everyone. Your support is greatly appreciated.
We look forward to seeing you at our Learner Led Conferences on the 3rd of August or Parent Teacher Conversations on the 10th of August.
Mauri tū, mauri ora - An active soul is a healthy soul.

TNIS SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS 2022
Our school is undertaking a parent election for our School Board. Many of our current parent representatives will be stepping aside as their children have now moved on to higher education, and we are actively looking for the next generation of Board members to take up the opportunity at TNIS. This process started with the issuing of nomination papers to our caregiver community.
We have employed CES to undertake the election process on our behalf. This year with legislative change, our nomination form and full instruction on how to place your nomination on our own School’s Election website will be emailed to you if we have your email address in our database, or you will receive it by post if we don’t have your email in our database. Nomination papers will also be available at the school office. The school will send those on to CES for processing upon receipt from candidates.
Nominations close on Wednesday the 3rd of August at 12 noon. Election day is Wednesday 7th September.
We look forward to your participation in this process.
