Notes and News
Dear SHGS Parents and Friends,
I hope everyone enjoyed this beautiful weekend.
Please be sure that you have read the two letters we sent home from our Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Michael Deegan, regarding the Coronavirus, general flu, and travel updates. We will continue to provide you with these updates as we receive them.
In addition, I would like to share with you some of the efforts that we are using to keep our students safe:
Our custodial staff is taking extra steps to enhance our standard cleaning procedures for our school building that include:
· Wiping down “touchpoint” areas (doorknobs/handles, railings, fixtures, and more) with state approved disinfectant solution
· Ensuring all bathrooms are fully stocked with an adequate supply of soap and replenished as needed throughout the day
· Supplying each teacher with disinfectant wipes and a spray bottle, with state approved sanitizer, and disposable towels for touchpoint cleaning, as needed, throughout the day
Our teachers are also committed to assisting with these efforts by:
· Encouraging students and providing the time and opportunity for students to wash their hands with soap and water for 20 seconds often
· Providing students with hand wipes and/or hand sanitizer when washing hands with soap and water is not feasible
· Teaching and encouraging students to cover coughs and sneezes with tissue or elbow
· Teaching and encouraging students to dispose of tissues immediately in the trash and wash/sanitize their hands
· Recognizing symptoms of illness and sending students to the nurse for evaluation
Our school nurse will continue to evaluate students who are ill. The nurse will exclude students for the following:
· Fever greater than 100 degrees F
· Excessive, uncontrolled cough, with or without fever
· Difficulty breathing or unexplained shortness of breath
· Reddened throat, with or without fever
· Vomiting and diarrhea, with or without fever
· Copious nasal discharge, with or without fever
· Excessive fatigue, body aches, ill appearance, with or without fever
Your continued cooperation with the same is greatly appreciated!
Have a wonderful week!
Warm Regards,
Tracy Strub
