Vol.5 No.33
Fight the Urge!
I want you to check-in with your students to see how they are doing and ask if there is anything you can do for them (Relationships before Rigor). I want you to accept work that is turned in and give feedback if needed. If you have worked that is turned in and it is not up to par understand that it is ok and reach out to see if you can help in any way (Grace before Grades) You are going to want to offer every program/resource that comes along but fight the urge and keep it simple. Be patient with the process as it might get a little bumpy and you are going to want to change course (Patience before Programs) Lastly, Love on your kiddos, families, and staff! This is not a time to see who has the best online learning program, this is a time to determine who has the best culture of LOVE by how they support their students and families! (Love before Lessons)
Love my HBE FamiLE!
Keep Howling!

Important Information: District Directory---Get this completed ASAP (Parents will be contacting)
You should have received an email from the District notifying our parents of a few important resources they will need for Monday, March 30. One of those resources is our District Directory on the website.
Please click the link and look yourself up to ensure we have the most updated information on the website. We want to be sure we have your name, grade level or subject you teach, campus, 5 digit classroom phone extension, and email address.
If everything looks good and all the information is posted, you do not need to do anything else.
If the information posted is incomplete or incorrect, please fill out this form with all the correct information.
We would like to have this completed by the end of the day today.
Teacher Schedules:
Teachers are expected to be available for district business from 8 am - 4 pm Monday - Friday
while the district is closed. Expectations for this time are as follows:
● 8:00 - 9:00 Virtual meetings with campus administration team
● 9:00 - 10:00 Virtually work collaboratively with grade level/content team
● 10:00 - 12:00 Virtual Office Hours*
● 12:00 - 12:30 Lunch Break
● 12:30 - 3:00 Virtually work collaboratively with grade level/content team
● 3:00 - 4:00 Virtual Office Hours*
*Virtual Office Hours: During your Virtual Office Hours, you are expected to stay in contact with
your students encouraging them to work on their learning continuity activities, checking on their wellbeing, providing feedback and interventions as necessary on students struggling, providing support to parents and caregivers attempting to provide the continuity of learning. Virtual contact can be made via email, phone using the District’s 8x8 system, or through Zoom. (Zoom can be setup as a whole group for a class of students or individually for students that need protection fromFERPA in terms of any support or intervention needed for a specific activity.) In the time from 10am-4pm while a teacher has no direct student or parent contact scheduled, they can be working collaboratively with other content/grade level teachers and the coordinators to prepare for the next week’s activities.
The virtual hours will also apply to any ARD/504 meetings that must occur to be in compliance
with timelines and FAPE. The campus administrator/ARD Facilitator or Evaluator will set up these
Zoom meetings with notification to attendees through Campus ARD Google Calendars.
Detailed information regarding screen sharing and electronic signatures will be shared with applicable staff.
Learning Plan Submission Update
Focus Platform is being created as we speak...My understanding is that assignments that will be in focus and all you will be doing is adding the proficiency level in a drop-down menu.
In FOCUS, you will mark two drop-down areas for proficiency level and if the assignment was received or not. Once it is built and ready we will look at it together as teams. Very important: This will be done for submissions we receive and you do not need to worry if you have not received a submission if a family has challenges to submit - with low tech for example. We will support ways they can do so and encourage this so that we can check-in and give feedback. However, students WILL NOT be penalized if we do not have submissions. You are not expected to have 100% submissions as we know the realities our families face during this time.
You will communicate to families about the following days we will take submissions per content area to help them navigate what to submit. Here is the current recommendation to spread out the submissions across the week.
Monday - Teachers reach out to kids (Whole Class Not Individually) for the understanding of the learning plans and communicate about submissions with families.
Tuesday - Reading Language Arts (ELAR/SLAR)
Wednesday - Math
Thursday - Science
Friday - Social Studies
Spirit Week---Push this out to your parents!
