Here at Rockledge we join PWCS in recognizing Attendance Awareness Month throughout September with the theme “Every Student, Everyday: Showing Up Matters for R.E.A.L.”
Routines: Daily attendance routines can reduce stress, increase your child’s self-confidence and lay a foundation for good attendance in later grades.
Engagement: Participation in school helps your child connect with other children and adults and get excited about learning.
Access to Resources: Schools can give you access to meals, physical and mental health care and other supports, and fun enrichment activities (sports, clubs, music, afterschool and summer programs, etc.).
Learning: Children learn best from hand-on activities and through meaningful interactions with their teacher and other students.
If your family needs support in building strong attendance practices please do not hesitate to reach out to the school, your teacher, our counselors, parent liaison, and school administration. We are here to help.

Family Volunteer Opportunities
Are you looking for a new opportunity to serve in a family leadership role here at the Rock? We have a couple of opportunities just for YOU!
- Family Advisory Council Lead: this role will work with the School leadership in planning out collaborative conversations and goal setting for our Family Advisory Board. The board meets every other month, beginning in October, right before PTA meetings.
- Parent Superintendent Advisory Board: this person will attend a monthly (evenings) meeting at the Kelly Leadership School Board building and engage in learning from our Superintendent, Dr. LaTonya McDade, about initiatives of PWCS. Then this person will provide updates during Family Advisory Council meetings.
If interested in learning more about these roles please reach out to Mrs. Steptoe-Coleman at steptoNK@pwcs.edu.
Hello Families! This year we are partnering with SchoolStore to raise funds to help purchase essential tools our students and teachers needs to succeed. Each family will be receiving a packet this week, via student backpacks, about how to support this effort.
Your part only takes a couple of minutes, simply sign up online. We are hoping to raise funds to offset classroom costs, learning resources, and student enrichment opportunities. Thank you in advance for your support.
