Breakfast with a Business Reschedule date

Due to last Friday's school cancellation, our annual Breakfast with a Business has been rescheduled for this Friday, March 1st. It will be held at 9 a.m. with a location change to the cafeteria. We hope you can join us to celebrate 5 years of PHS DECA. We are so thankful for all of our business partners and community supporters. We look forward to hosting you on Friday morning.

Happy National CTE Month!

February is national Career and Technical Education month. PHS DECA is celebrating and advocating for CTE this month by participating in DECA's national advocacy campaign. The advocacy campaign requires students to participate in community, school, and policy maker outreach to promote career and technical education and DECA. This is great experience for our members to showcase how our DECA and marketing programs have helped shape them into future leaders. DECA planned many outreach activities for February including CTE shirt day, DECA week, Breakfast with a Business, and many more. To follow all of our CTE month activities, be sure to follow our social media accounts listed at the bottom of this newsletter.

Thank you to our business partners!

Thank you to our new and returning business partners this school year. Without your support, our chapter would not be successful. If you have an interest in becoming a PHS DECA business partner, check out the information below and contact our advisor Mary Beth Allen at marybeth.allen@sumnerschools.org. This is the greatest number of business partners we have made in the community since the program began in 2015-2016. Thank you for helping us achieve greatness and set new records as a chapter!

Portland High School DECA

We are a group of high school students working to become skilled in the areas of marketing, management, hospitality, finance, and entrepreneurship through our involvement with the professional organization DECA. DECA is an international organization involving more than 215,000 students, 3,500 high school chapters, and 5,500 DECA advisors. Our hope as a chapter is to make an impact on our community and state by participating in events and working hard to develop professional skills necessary for life after high school.
