Conference Updates

Monday Welcome: Superintendent of Public Instruction, Dr. Jennifer McCormick

Dr. McCormick will be on hand to open the Monday portion of our conference and will share some updates from the Department of Education. She will speak at 7:45 am, followed by Cathy Tooley. Registration will be open at 7 am that day.

We now have over 250 people registered for our conference! You can still register on our conference website. The session variety is outstanding.

Sunday Schedule

Todd Whitaker will be our keynote speaker on Sunday, September 17 at 5 pm. Because he has to leave right after his presentation, he has agreed to be available outside the ballroom* from 4 pm on. You can come to the Sheraton, watch the end (or all) of the Colts game and mingle with fellow educators and Todd. We will have some of Todd's books available for autographing/purchase (cash or check only). Registration and exhibits will also be available from 4-5 pm. (*change from previous newsletter)

There is a garage with free parking immediately to the north of the hotel, with a skywalk on the third level of the garage that connects directly to our meeting room level.

Hotel Rooms

The deadline has passed for the $129 rate, but if you contact Shirley Wright directly by September 10, you can still get a discount from published hotel rates.

This Week's Poll Question

Is your school 1:1 for technology? Please answer in this google form. (Yes, we know this is not scientific, but it could be useful.) Feel free to continue any conversation about this on our Facebook, Twitter, or Voxer platforms.

Last week's poll question: 64% of respondents are in middle schools with grades 6-8. 27% did not fit any of the configurations listed. (Click graphic above to enlarge.)

Website of the Week: edWeb is a great provider of free, quality professional learning. They have numerous communities devoted to different disciplines and interests, and frequent webinars. It just so happens that one of our presenters, Steve Gruenert, will be presenting on Monday, September 11 at 4 pm EDT on "School Culture Rewired: Proven Strategies from an Expert". You can register in advance or join that community. Slides and chat logs from presentations are posted in the communities, PD certificates are emailed to live attendees and to those who watch the webinar archive and pass a short quiz.

We will have two books co-authored by Professor Gruenert and Todd Whitaker available for purchase. It's possible to get Todd to autograph your copy on Sunday, and Steve on Monday!

Free Demo from Achieve 3000

Achieve 3000 is one of IMLEA's partners; they support our organization financially, and in addition, offer a discount to our members who purchase their services. This month you have an opportunity for a free demo. Several new features have been added, including a new interface and a Career Center.
