WELCOME BACK!
This fall brings the traditional excitement of returning to school, or starting school in person for the first time. We are just as happy to all be back on campus and looking forward to your arrival on the first day of school, Monday, August 16th. We have our usual start time of 8:30, and you may drop off your child as early as 8:15 for breakfast or time to play and meet friends. Pick up is 2:55, except for Wednesday and if your child is in TK (please click the bell schedule button below).
I am also new to the Binkley campus as your principal this year. Though Binkley is my new home, I have been in Rincon Valley School District since 2014, all of which have been on the Matanzas campus as both a teacher and principal. I come to you with 16 years of being an educator; a decade of that was in elementary school, and I am grateful daily that I get to be a part of children's lives and this school community. I have two of my own; one who is entering 1st grade with RVP at Binkley and another who will start at the district's new preschool.
Know that I do not pretend to have all the answers; I will listen, and I promise to do my best to support everyone as we navigate our full return to in person learning. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or information you may like to share. As I said before, I am thrilled to be at Binkley and I look forward to meeting you and your children this upcoming school year.
This year with the continued layer of COVID-19, please look out for district communication for protocols and procedures that all of our schools follow. For now, the basics are below. Send your child to school with a mask that: fits their face properly, cleaned, and is comfortable. All adults that are on campus must also be masked. So we will see you your smile behind your eyes!
This newsletter will come to your in box every other week, and is the best place to get the latest school information. Here you also find links to our Binkley Booster fundraisers and other school events.
AT BINKLEY, YOU BELONG.

Masks Required
Students are required to mask at all times. Adults in school settings are required to a wear mask when sharing spaces with students. Persons exempted from wearing a face covering due to a medical condition, must wear a non-restrictive alternative, such as a face shield with a drape on the bottom edge, as long as their condition permits it. We will continue to provide a face covering to students who inadvertently fail to bring a face covering to school to prevent unnecessary exclusions. Individual classes may have mask breaks outside organized by the classroom teacher.
Adults on campus
We are limiting nonessential visitors, volunteers, and activities involving external groups or organizations with people who are not fully vaccinated. We need volunteers to be vaccinated in order to help on our campuses, and to complete a form letting us have evidence of this. Pick up and drop off of your child does not require this, we only require you to wear a mask.
Stay home when sick
Have your child stay home when sick. Getting tested for COVID-19 when symptoms are consistent with COVID-19 will help with rapid contact tracing and prevent possible spread at schools. Students with symptoms of COVID-19 infection are advised not to return for in-person instruction until they have met CDPH criteria to return to school for those with symptoms:
i. At least 24 hours have passed since resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications; andii. Other symptoms have improved; and
iii. They have a negative test for SARS-CoV-2, OR a healthcare provider has provided documentation that the symptoms are typical of their underlying chronic condition (e.g., allergies or asthma) OR a healthcare provider has confirmed an alternative named diagnosis (e.g., Streptococcal pharyngitis, Coxsackie virus), OR at least 10 days have passed since symptom onset.
