"Tell me I forget. Teach me I remember. Involve me I learn."

Language Arts

This week we began reading Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. This is our second novel unit of the year and we are having so much fun already! Throughout this book we will be working on many different reading and comprehension strategies including theme, analyzing characters and setting, and compare and contrast (characters). You will be hearing a lot about Hatchet in the next few weeks :)

In writing, we have moved on to multi-paragraph essay work. As a class, we are focusing on our planning steps leading up to the writing. There are a few new strategies added in when writing a multi-paragraph piece.

Rita Pierson: Every kid needs a champion
The students and I watched this video together last week. We talked a lot about the importance of school and good teachers. Please know that all of the teachers at CPU are here to be your child's champion! We love our jobs and care greatly for our students.
