Charlie Daniels' Making a Come-back

So Should You….It's Time to "Come Back" to St. Mark's

"Off the Grid- Doin' it Dylan"

Yep. This is no April Fool's joke. That's the actual name of the new album that The Charlie Daniels band released today. I take this as a sign that it's time for the class of 1979 to get back in the mix and make a come back of our own to the35th reunion. If Charlie Daniels can make a come back, so can we. (So far we have the most people from any class registered for reunion weekend. Let's keep it up!)

Emma Battle

Hey everybody. I hope to see you at reunion. We would like to feature some of our classmates in upcoming newsletters. Your reunion committee is starting with profiles of ourselves and I have featured Fred Tan in this one because he was recently in he news, but we would love to hear from the rest of you. You can influence what we feature by sending me an email, otherwise I'll have to stalk you on Facebook and LinkedIn! :)

Here is a quick summary of my last 35 years:

I went to Duke after St. Mark's and majored in Economics and Spanish. My first job after college was Production Supervisor at Quaker Oats. I spent 5 years at Quaker and then went on to Harvard Business School to receive my MBA in 1990. Work during and after Harvard included an internship at Goldman Sachs in NY and manager, director, GM, and vice president positions at American Express, Sara Lee, Transora and Red Hat. Recently I served as president and COO of digital marketing firm Three Ships Media. In 1992 I married Joe Battle, a Duke classmate. We have two sons, Khari ages 19, a freshman at Elon University, and Iyin age 16 a junior at East Chapel Hill High. In 2003 I started a services business, IYSIS Business Services and have recently re-engaged with it as CEO while I try to determine if I will build this business or join another company. I am looking forward to connecting with everyone at St. Mark's in June!
