Letter from the Principal
Dear Tualatin Black Bear Families,
With just over one month of school left, we are working hard to maintain that important balance between a focused, academic learning environment and the excitement for all of the fun year-end activities. This is a busy time and our school days feel like they are moving fast. We appreciate your support to maintain effective home-to-school communication. This includes helping all students keep up with homework, on-time all-day regular attendance and safe, kind and responsible school behavior.
May is walk and bike to school month. We had a great Walk and Roll To School day earlier this week where many students walked, biked and scootered to school. We know how important exercise is for children to be healthy so this can be a motivating way to get kids exercising. When students ride bikes to school, remember to send a lock with them to keep them safe during the school day.
TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK was amazing over the last several days. HUGE thank you to the Tualatin Elementary PTA and family members for showing our staff so much appreciation. This has been a special week for everyone and a great way to keep everyone energized as we head towards the end of the year. We are very lucky to have so many wonderful students and families who support what Tualatin staff do every day. Our staff put their hearts into everything they do for our students. The recognition has made each staff member feel very special and supported.
With Gratitude,
Mr. Kingery
Principal
Covid-19 Reminder
We are seeing a rise in COVID cases in our schools and continue to monitor these reports very carefully. In addition, reports of the flu are on the rise in our buildings. This message is to remind our families to monitor for signs of illness at home before students come to school as well as guidance on what to do if your child is sick.
As a reminder, here is a list of important steps to take to protect you, your family, school communities, and others against COVID-19:
- Get vaccinated and your booster.
- Wear a mask.
- Limit gatherings and practice social distancing.
- Stay home if you are sick. Don’t go out in public.
- Stay home if you are waiting for the results of a COVID-19 test.
- Wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with tissues or by coughing into the inside of the elbow.
Please call your healthcare provider if you, your child, or a family member are experiencing symptoms. If your child tests positive for Covid, please call the school office so we can give you guidance on a return date and arrange for schoolwork for your student.

Free Dental Screening and Sealants
Dental3 will be providing free dental screening and sealants the week of May 23 at Tualatin Elementary. Healthy teeth are important to your child’s overall health. A dental screening is a quick look inside your child’s mouth to check the overall health of their teeth. Dental sealants are protective coatings put on the back teeth and are a quick and easy way to prevent cavities. Click this link to sign the permission form for your child online: (Please copy and paste the link to sign the permission form for your child online) https://hipaa.jotform.com/Dental3/free-school-sealant-program-english
