Wow. I read this quote and the truth that it speaks stopped me dead in my tracks. I never thought I was a bully until I listened to how I speak to myself... That's powerful. What do we gain from being hard on ourselves? Does negative self-talk help us get any better at what we are frustrated with ourselves about?

Taking this beyond ourselves, I think we can all think of students who are their own bullies. They talk down to themselves, say that they're worthless, call themselves names, and give up far too quickly because of their negative self-talk. Let's not let our students bully themselves. I'm not a fan of the word "bully" because of it's overuse in our culture, but I kind of like it when we talk about negative self-talk.

Just food for thought this Monday morning! I hope that you all realize that you are worth so much more than the lies we tell ourselves. You are all skilled educators, worthy of praise and appreciation. In whatever form your serve our students, your work is valued and appreciated. Yes, we all have weaknesses. But we all also have incredible strengths! Don't minimize your strengths and give your weakness the spotlight by pointing them out to yourself on a daily basis. You're worth so much more than that! <3

Make this week amazing!
