Westridge Wildcat News
Summer Edition
Message from the Principal:
Dear Westridge Community,
My name is Jules Laaperi and I am your new principal! I am honored to be part of the Westridge community, a place where incredible students, families, teachers, and staff gather together to accomplish great things. With opportunities as a classroom teacher, Instructional Coordinator, and most recently as a Director, I bring experience, energy, excitement, joy, dedication, and a passion for education to my role as your principal.
My first priority this summer was to learn as much about the Westridge community as possible. I have met with teaching teams, individuals, our PTSO president and more. It has been a joy to meet students and caregivers out on the playground, riding bikes out front, during kindergarten transition, and at our district summer school program. It is my hope to be able to host informal get togethers out on the playground throughout August. More details on this to come!
Overall though, it has been quiet around school this past month. With August beginning there is so much to look forward to-school supplies, class placement, the first day of school! We are busy preparing our beautiful space for the return of your wonderful children. Teachers are attending professional development opportunities, preparing their classroom spaces, and bubbling with excitement for the year ahead.
We cannot wait for the year to start. In the meantime, our office is open each Wednesday from 9 am - 12 pm until August 16th when we will resume our typical hours. Please feel free to give us a call if you need anything. I am also happy to connect by email if there is anything I can do to support you and your family. You can reach me at LaaperiJ@loswego.k12.or.us.
With excitement,
Jules Laaperi

Teachers will be familiar with your student’s plan and accommodations. To help better know your students, please complete the attached one-page profile or create one on your own ahead of time, and give it to the teacher at the Smart Start introduction.

Verify Student Info Before Returning to School
- Ensuring that schools have accurate information to reach parents and other contacts in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Verification is important even if your address or contact information has not changed over the past year because the school may have incorrect information from a previous year.
- Confirming parent email addresses for Google Classroom and other applications to participate in your student's learning.
- Enabling distribution of key information in the district's K-12 Family Handbook and Technology Agreement.
