Mustang Monday (on a Tuesday)
February 23, 2021
Letter From the Principal
Martinez Families,
As you have probably heard from the media and through the Board meetings, D11 will be eliminating asynchronous Mondays beginning 4th quarter (March 10th). Our Guiding Coalition (building leadership team) will be meeting this Thursday afternoon to finalize our learning plan for Martinez. See below for our initial planning and changes to expect for our online learners in 4th quarter.
There have also been some updates to D11’s Facility Master Plan and Academic Master Plan. I would encourage you to become familiar with these changes. Although Martinez is not explicitly listed to undergo major changes, these district-wide changes will still impact us in some capacity. Despite the changes, we still want to hear the voices of our parents as we are planning our future. Please see below for a survey link.
Mrs. Stewart

Return to Learn Changes
- Beginning 4th quarter (March 10th), asynchronous Mondays will no longer occur
- Students will attend school in-person 5 days a week
- We will have a finalized plan for online instruction by the end of this week
- This means we will not proceed with Learning Pods
- Because asynch Mondays was originally instated to help alleviate workload for teachers (having to teach online and in-person students simultaneously), we will have to make some shifts for online learners
o We will group all online students into two classes
§ One class will be K-2 and the other will be 3-5
§ This means your student will most likely have a change in their assigned teacher
o Online instruction will be limited to ELA and Math only
§ Any supplementing for SS or Science will be the responsibility of families
§ We will attempt to integrate through ELA and Math, but it will not be the focus
o Limited or No Specials
§ We are trying to find a way to support specials without the strain on teachers
o Small group instruction and interventions will still occur
§ This will be supported by teachers and tutors
- Families still have until March 4th to change to in-person learning
o Complete this form if you would like to switch modes of learning
