Many Hands, One Mason

September 16, 2018

Dear Mason Families,

Happy Sunday! Special shout out to everyone who was able to attend our Back to School Night this week. It was awesome to see everyone there as we look to partner to help your child(ren) continue to be successful in all their future endeavors. At Mason, we value our families and rely on family participation and support. Research shows us the more involved families are at home, the more successful their child will be overall.

Please consider joining us for our first PTO meeting of the year this Tuesday (9.18) at 7pm in the Mason media center. This is a great opportunity to be involved and to really learn how you can support the learning that takes place on a daily basis at Mason! Remember our challenge is to have every parent come to at least one PTO meeting this year! We will also have our first Coffee with the Principal meeting this Tuesday from 6-7pm in the media center! Our topic of conversation will be how to best support your learner at home. Feel free to come prepared for with questions and ideas on how we can best support each other.

Have a wonderful weekend and Go Lions,

Roy Bishop, Jr.

Principal

Our thoughts are with the Fuller Family: As many of you may have heard, the Fuller Family suffered the lost of their son (9th grader at North) this past week. They currently have a child at Mason and several people in the Mason community have decided to create a GoFundMe page for the family. A link to the page is below... Lets continue to keep them in our thoughts....

Dinner Conversations Talking Points:

How can you be more proactive at school?

What is one goal for yourself this week?

Picture Day

Order forms for picture day were send home this week. Please have your child bring in the completed form on September 20th. Parents can also order pictures online at www.mylifetouch.com- the Mason ID number is LM718093Y0.

YEARBOOK: The yearbook is part of packages A-G. It may also be purchased separately for $10 if you choose not to purchase a package

Weekly Family Reading Challenge:

Read at least 60 minutes this week with your child (no matter their age). You will be surprised how many rich conversations you can have around character development when you read with your child and it also helps them become a better reader. Readers become fluent readers by listening to other fluent readers. When you complete your reading challenge for the week, please have your child pop down to the office so they can receive a fun reading certificate that will be hung in the main hallway!

Box Tops for Education

Just a reminder that Mason Elementary is a Box Tops for Education participant.

Each classroom has a special Box Tops container. All you need to do is look for Box Tops coupons on your favorite products. Clip the coupon off. Send it in to your child's classroom, or drop off in the office. There is a container there too!

Our school earns dollars to spend on our students. Last year we earned just over one thousand dollars!

Our schools Box Tops Coordinator is Mrs. Gillette.

Thanks for participating!

September’s Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) Focus

Hallway Behavior- We are working extremely hard at making sure we are conducting ourselves in a positive way in the hallway. Our goal is to make sure we are keeping our school as safe as possible and part of that is making sure we understand the expectations for the hallway. Please ask your child to tell you what they are expected to do in the hallways at Mason.
