New announcements:
In person classes begin September 11
We are excited to have students join us for classes this week. We look forward to seeing you.
- Grades 6-8: Monday at 8:30am
- Grades 9-10: Monday at 8:30am
- Grade 11-12: Monday at 12:00pm
- Grades K-5: Tuesday at 8:30am
High school students may have a small adjustment made to their schedule. We created additional class sections to keep class sizes smaller. Your teachers will stay the same, just some of the times are adjusted. All students will be given their updated schedules on Monday. If families have questions about the changes please speak with your student after class Monday and then reach out to your conferencing teacher.
Enrichment and Music Classes Begin
If your student signed up for Enrichment K-8 or Music with Ms. Clarke K-12 those classes begin this week. Did you miss music sign up with Ms. Clarke? Sign up for music classes here.
If you want your student to join a different enrichment class (not Ms. Clarke's music) please let the teacher know and they will get you added to the roster. Boats if full with a waitlist.
Where to meet for Ms. Clarke's Music Class
For Ms. Clarke's music classes students should meet for class by the doors to Blue Heron next to the OCEAN portable by Koyuki and Judd's room. Please arrive a few minutes early to ensure you get into the class on time. Elementary families should pick up at the same location. Please be on time for pick up as Ms. Clarke teaches another class afterwards. If you are late for class or pick up please come to the OCEAN office.
If participating high school students want to take music for high school credit please reach out to counselor Emily Eldridge, eeldridge@ptschools.org or your conferencing teacher. High school students can also participate in music just for enrichment and not for credit.
School Cafeteria Breakfast and Lunch and Free and Reduced Meals Applications
All OCEAN students can eat school cafeteria breakfast and lunch every day. Students will need to know their four digit number to enter for meals. If they do not know it they can get their number from the OCEAN office. We will have them available at lunch.
Breakfast pick up 8:10-8:20 M-F. Enter through the Blue Heron commons, pick up breakfast, exit Blue Heron with your breakfast and come to the OCEAN tent or directly to class. OCEAN students do not eat in the Blue Heron commons.
Lunch pick up 11:30-11:40 M-F. Enter Blue Heron through the doors near the tent. An adult will let you in to the building. Go directly to the cafeteria, pick up lunch, return to the OCEAN tent. Stay in the OCEAN lunch area until 12:00pm. OCEAN students do not eat in the Blue Heron commons. ELementary students will be walked to and from the cafeteria.
Lunch is no cost for all OCEAN students. If you have not yet completed your blue application for Free and Reduced Meals, please complete and return to the OCEAN office. In order for our school to continue to be eligible for free meals school wide next school year we need to have all eligible families complete their form this year. These forms also help OCEAN be eligible for additional school funding and grants.
If your student will be eating cafeteria meals and have dietary requests or needs please let the OCEAN office know. Vegetarian meals and medical dietary meals available only with advanced notice. If it is a medical dietary need please complete and return this form.
Student Pick Up, Drop Off & Parking
Help make pick up and drop off a success. All students and families should access the OCEAN buildings from the orchard side of the school. Please do not walk across the playground area as there are often Blue Heron classes in that area during the school day. The parking closest to OCEAN near the orchard is reserved for OCEAN families and students. The fire lane behind the OCEAN office building is not a parking area.
Grades K-3
Students in grades K-3 should be picked up directly from the OCEAN classroom after class. Wait outside the room until class is dismissed. The teacher will release the student when they see their grown-up. If your student has permission to walk or bike home, or go home with another family please send them with a note.
Grade 4-12
Will be released at the end of class. If the student is waiting for pick-up they should wait in the waiting area near the fire hydrant (see map). If a student's ride does not come or they need to call home they should come to the OCEAN office.
Families picking up students should either park in a designated parking space, or wait in their car in the pick up and drop off area.
Families should communicate with the OCEAN office if they are going to be late, or if the pick-up plan changes. Teachers are not always able to pick up voicemail and email in time for pick-up changes.
