The Siegrist Star
Week of September 18, 2023
TODAY IS NATIONAL DOT DAY
Today, Siegrist Elementary celebrated DOT DAY. This special day is based on a book written by Peter H. Reynolds titled The Dot. His purpose for writing this book was to remind readers that creativity lies within each of us. This power allows us to enrich ourselves and everyone around us. More pictures on our Facebook page.
Counselor's Corner
Welcome to a new school year! We are so happy to have you at Siegrist. This year both Mrs. Burrows and Dr. Mann are at Siegrist full time! The comprehensive counseling program has many roles and responsibilities, thus we are sharing roles and responsibilities to meet all 605 student needs! (CLICK HERE for role division chart). The school counseling annual calendar overview can be viewed HERE. Lastly, our counselor lessons have been embedded into the Siegrist Specials rotation, meaning your child(ren) will receive a counselor lesson for 50 minutes every 6 days. While one counselor is always teaching the other is meeting individual needs, small group needs, system support or responsive services.
Additionally, this will be our 3rd year with an advisory council solely focused on the school counseling program. The advisory meets two times a year, once in the Fall and once in the Spring. The advisory is made up of school administrators, a school board member, parents, teachers, and this year we’d like to invite a few 5th graders to join us for student input.
Need to contact a counselor? The best way to reach us is via email. Please don’t hesitate to contact either of us if you are needing anything. Our contact information is:
Julia Burrows: 816-858-5977, ext. 1407 or burrowsj@platteco.k12.mo.us
Dr. Mann: 816-858-5977, ext. 1406 or mannl@platteco.k12.mo.us

Platte County School District recognizes the importance of community input to help set the future direction of our schools. We will be kicking off another year of the PCR-3 Community Advisory by gathering volunteers who will have an ongoing role to review the District’s progress toward its Comprehensive Strategic Improvement Plan goals, as well as to provide input regarding the District's general operation and specific issues impacting education activities and programs. Any District resident, employee, or student may participate in the ongoing work of this group.
We have reached out to existing members about continuing their participation and are now opening membership up to new members. If interested in serving on this advisory, please complete the application linked here by September 25. The first General Membership meeting will be held October 3.

Siegrist School Attendance:
School attendance is very important! Our school attendance goal is: 90% of students in attendance 90% or higher of the time. Each day daily student attendance is posted outside the office door before you enter, take a look the next time you are at school at our daily attendance rate. Siegrist does have an attendance committee that meets monthly to review individual student attendance. It is our goal to work alongside parents to ensure a high attendance rate for every student. Below is a graph of last year’s average student daily attendance:
The 22-23 yearly average student attendance rate was 92.88%. This is a wonderful attendance rate and we hope to keep attendance high. Thank you for making school a priority and partnering with us to ensure your child is at school. If your student will not be here please call the front office at 816-858-5977.
