Annie Granger - Eleventh Grade English
Mrs. Granger's eleventh grade English classes recently read George Ella Lyon's poem, "Where I'm From." After analyzing Lyon's poem through close reading, her students wrote their own, original poems. Her students participated in a gallery walk, so they could view and give positive feedback about other students' poems. Students wrote amazing poems about their roots and their upbringing!
Mrs. Fritz - Child Development Class
"This week, we had preschool orientation in the Child Development class. Children ages 3 and 4 will be coming to our preschool lab next week during periods 1, 2, and 3. Children will be learning colors, shapes, letters, numbers, and so much more in order to prepare them for kindergarten. This is a great hands-on experience for the high school students in this class. Students can sign up for this course in their 10th, 11th, and/or 12th-grade year. Pictured are bulletin boards that level 2 and 3 students completed in the classroom. We are looking forward to a great school year!"
Thank you!
Laura Fritz
GUIDANCE
Cumberland Perry Area Career & Technical Center - CPVCTC
On Wednesday, Sept 29th, 9th-Grade Students attended an informational presentation about Cumberland Perry Area Career & Technical Center (CPVCTC). In partnership with Cumberland Perry Area & Vocational Technical School, Biglerville High School students have an amazing opportunity to choose a profession that might interest them and allow them to get a head start on their careers.
We have a large number of students taking dual classes at BHS and CPAVTS this year. This is very exciting knowing we will have well-trained, ready-to-work graduates in various fields ranging from Automotive Collision Technology, Cosmetology, Precision Machine Technology, Dental Assisting, Diesel Technology, Carpentry, HVAC, Culinary Arts, Welding, Nursing/Nursing Assistant, and Electrical Construction. With 22 programs available to students in grades 10-12, there is an abundance of opportunities to be a well-trained, work-ready graduate! Typically most programs last 3 years.
Please visit the CPAVTS website, cpavts.org, for more information and program descriptions, or encourage your student to stop by the Guidance Office.
