OMS DI Team Challenges Plainwell Middle School
The Otsego Middle School Destination Imagination Team is prepping for their competition by identifying and acting on a community need. They’ve decided to take a collection of health and beauty care items for Christian Neighbors. They are starting January 12th and going until the end of the month. These products are only provided to Christian Neighbors by donation; they are very limited to the resources they have available to get these basic products – like deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. And they rarely keep them on the shelves for long! The challenge is to see which school can collect the most products in this time. There is a prize for the winning school. OMS DI kids created a fun video to lay out the challenge which will be played at both schools. Here’s a link to it: https://otsegops.wistia.com/medias/kuwpagn3ed
This community service project is for the kids’ actual DI project for competition. They chose the challenge “The MEME Event” which focuses on Service Learning and Project Outreach. Once their Otsego/Plainwell challenge is over, they’ll have to look at the results and create a presentation on their findings and impact. Their challenge is described below in the description from the DI website http://www.destinationimagination.org/files/blog/15-16_Challenge_Overviews.pdf
