COULD YOUR FAMILY BENEFIT FROM FOOD ASSISTANCE?
We have a program that can help you! The Husky Hutch Food Pantry! We offer assistance at any time.
Mission:
The mission of the Husky Hutch Food Pantry is a free service to help alleviate child hunger through the provision of food to children and their families at school. The pantry is located on the grounds of Clara Barton Elementary School and is intended to provide a more readily accessible source of food assistance and clothing assistance to low-income students and their families. It is open to all elementary school children in the Fargo Public Schools Network and is accessible through a Student Wellness Facilitator (SWFF), School Counselor,
or School Principal. It could be a one time visit or more as needed and is totally confidential.
What types of items will be available at the school pantry?
Most of the items available are shelf stable, nutritious, and easy to prepare so that the children are able to care for themselves as much as possible. Some staples that should be available:

COVID Information
*Currently in isolation-Teachers, students, and staff who are in currently in isolation beyond five days and are asymptomatic (or have improving symptoms without fever reducing medication) will be released. Individuals currently in isolation that meet the criteria for release will be notified of their new release date by the North Dakota Department of Health. Individuals who test positive for COVID-19:
A shortened isolation time has been recommended. The isolation period has been reduced from ten days to five days, if the person is asymptomatic, or if symptoms are improving and the individual has been feverfree without medication for 24 hours at day five. This isolation period should be followed by five days of wearing a well-fitting mask while around others. Individuals who are exposed to COVID-19:
*People who are unvaccinated should consider quarantining for five days followed by strict mask use for an additional five days. If the exposed person is under the age of two, then masking is not required.
*People who are vaccinated and are more than six months out from their second mRNA dose, or more than two months after the J&J vaccine and not yet boosted, should consider quarantining for five days followed by strict mask use for an additional five days. • Individuals who have received their booster shot, have had a prior infection in the last 90 days, or are within six months of their primary mRNA series or two months of J & J dose, do not need to quarantine following an exposure, but should consider wearing a mask for 10 days after the exposure.
For all those exposed, best practice would also include a test for COVID-19 at day five after exposure. If symptoms occur, individuals should immediately quarantine until a negative test confirms symptoms are not attributable to COVID-19.

Fargo South Activities Briefing
Welcome to the fourth Fargo South Activities Briefing! This has been included in your newsletter to provide information on the value of kids participating in activities, the events happening at South High, and information on the great things that our South students are doing.
Did you know . . .
From the National Federation of High Schools article High School Activities: A Community Investment in America:
We’ve all heard the adage, “healthy body — healthy mind.” That clearly is a benefit of participation in high school activity programs. It includes emotional well-being, as well as the obvious physical benefits.
According to a 1996 Surgeon General’s Report, students participating in sports develop themselves physically, control their weight and reduce fat, can prevent or delay the development of high blood pressure, and can reduce feelings of depression and anxiety.
Fargo South sponsors 24 varsity sports and over 30 groups, co-curricular activities, and co-curricular clubs. You can find the full list of opportunities at https://www.fargo.k12.nd.us/domain/138.
