Recognitions
Brookside Elementary team
Dr. Mary Wolverton, associate superintendent for elementary schools, and Dr. Anissa Cravens, principal of Brookside Elementary, recognized Brookside Elementary staff members and a community member for their support of an accident involving a youth. Brookside staff members Holly Groebner, Tim Tyler, Kristin Flemmer and Rochelle Holste joined community member Tiffany Cornell in receiving the recognition.
Community Education and Government Relations
2023 Legislative Platform recommendation
Michelle Trelstad, executive director of community education and government relations, and Michelle Vargas, chief financial officer, discussed the district’s first read of its legislative platform. The School Board discussed three priority areas including funding to improve student outcomes, investing in school safety and addressing staffing challenges. The board will consider approval of the platform at their Nov. 21 meeting.
Elementary and secondary education
Elementary and middle school boundary change proposals
Dr. Mary Wolverton, associate superintendent for elementary schools; Becky Brodeur, associate superintendent for middle schools and student services; and Greg Cole, chief operations officer, provided a draft proposal on attendance boundary changes scheduled to take place starting next school year. District leaders have collected community feedback on draft proposals and have updated recommendations in response to community feedback. The School Board is expected to consider approval on the proposals at its Nov. 21 meeting.
