National Day of Prayer - May 7, 2020
Since May 7 is the National Day of Prayer, I thought it was fitting in light of the pandemic to highlight family prayer resources. I included the song Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me as a way to enter into a time of prayer. Music has always been an important way that I connect with God in prayer. I hope you enjoy this song of assurance and are able to try a few of these resources at home, either on the National Day of Prayer, or any other day. You can also use this song as you practice Praying in Color which is described below.

Spiritual Disciplines for Real Families
Check out this excellent blog post from Janel Breitenstein. Not only does it include some excellent prayer ideas, but a number of printables that make trying some of her ideas super easy! Also check out her non-screen ideas for kids during COVID-19.
Five Ways to Pray
Check out this Banner post from a few years back written by Sandy Swartzentruber. I have included the post as a PDF below. A great reminder that 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to "Never stop praying!" I have also included a more recent CRCNA Faith Formation Ministries download with additional great ideas to try.
Praying in Color
Back in November SCCS students participated in a type of prayer developed by Sybil MacBeth called "Praying in Color" during connection groups. I would encourage you to take a look at the website to learn more. Both the website and guide to the practice are listed below. I would especially direct you to the Tangled Ball of Emotions pdf. This is an excellent color-by-number resource for use during this pandemic.
Do Not Worry by Rain for Roots
I began with a song, and am closing with another song of comfort. This one is call "Do Not Worry" by Rain for Roots. I highly recommend their music! Great for kids and adults.

A Prayer from Isaiah 42
I am ending this newsletter with a prayer from Isaiah 42 adapted by Sally Lloyd-Jones. I invite you to use this prayer in your devotions today, but also with your children during this time of uncertainty.
