Positive Behavior Supports (PBS)
Blue Ridge BlueJays are Proactive about Behavior
What is PBS?
At Blue Ridge Elementary, we proactively support the success of all students toward the achievement of both academic and social goals. We believe that it is important to teach, model, practice and praise appropriate behaviors for our students. At our school, we have established three major expectations for all students: Be Safe, Be Respectful & Be Responsible. The expectations are taught and reinforced by all Blue Ridge staff. Throughout the first few weeks of school, we model and provide practice time to ensure all students know what it looks, sounds and feels like to be safe, respectful and responsible in the hallway, the playground, the school bus, the classroom and so on.
A major goal of PBS is for all students to feel successful when exhibiting positive behaviors. Students earn these tickets when 'caught' doing the right thing!
Students earn different incentives in each classroom for their BlueJay Bonuses. Some students collect and save BlueJay Bonuses, while others enter into drawings. Ask your child today how he or she earned a Bonus!
INCREASE IN ACHIEVEMENT
PBS increased student achievement in schools across the country. At Blue Ridge, we believe learning appropriate behaviors is just as valuable as learning to read, write and multiply.
