Positive Behavior Supports (PBS)

Blue Ridge BlueJays are Proactive about Behavior

What is PBS?

At Blue Ridge Elementary, we proactively support the success of all students toward the achievement of both academic and social goals. We believe that it is important to teach, model, practice and praise appropriate behaviors for our students. At our school, we have established three major expectations for all students: Be Safe, Be Respectful & Be Responsible. The expectations are taught and reinforced by all Blue Ridge staff. Throughout the first few weeks of school, we model and provide practice time to ensure all students know what it looks, sounds and feels like to be safe, respectful and responsible in the hallway, the playground, the school bus, the classroom and so on.

Teaching Students Voice Levels

In the cafeteria, teachers are working to teach students how to talk with friends at a quiet volume. This is called a Level 1 voice. Voice levels at Blue Ridge, range from a level 0 (silent) to a level 4 (playground volume). Practice with your student the difference voice levels and appropriate times to use each one.
