A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BAME
Dear Laurel Park Families,
Winter is officially here! I hope your families have been enjoying the beautiful snow. When inclement weather comes our way, as year round school employees and families, we have learned to be flexible.
Based on the schedule published by our district, the make-up day for today is this Saturday, December 15th. The make-up day for Tuesday, December 11th is Saturday, March 16th. Our doors will open for tracks 2, 3, and 4 at 8:45 AM. Dismissal will be at 12:45 PM. On make-up days we do not serve breakfast or lunch, so please send your child with a snack. Our theme this Saturday will be PAJAMA DAY. Students are welcome to wear snuggly PJs to school!

AIG News and Notes
Thank you to all Fall AIG Nominations and for waiting patiently for the results to come back! We have finally received all scores back and the results will be coming home to Track 1 students this week before you track out and Tracks 2 - 4 next week. Please feel free to email the LPES AIG Team, Mrs. Stone at astone@wcpss.net or Mrs. Taranto at ataranto@wcpss.net after getting the results with any questions.
It is time for Spring AIG Nominations for 4th & 5th Grade Students Only
I'm not sure why they call it Spring AIG nominations, when we ask for nominations and test in the winter season. But it is that time again! If you have a 4th or 5th grade student that consistently demonstrates above grade level work and thinks above and beyond abstractly, please consider nominating them for the WCPSS AIG program. All nominated students, will be presented to the LPES SBCGE (School Based Committee Gifted Education) for consideration. The committee looks at your student's classroom assessments, NC check-ins, report cards, mClass data, EOG scores, class performance and parent and teacher checklist to determine AIG eligibility. If eligibility is met, your student will need to take additional testing to determine AIG identification. If you have any questions about whether to nominate your child, please talk with your child's classroom teacher or email the AIG team, Mrs. Stone at astone@wcpss.net or Mrs. Taranto at ataranto@wcpss.net
AIG Nomination Dates
Tracks 1, 2 & 3 - now through January 9th
Track 4 - now through January 30th
AIG Testing
Tracks 1, 2 & 3 - January 11th - 25th
