What is Intellectual Property?
It is defined as original works created by an author. Including music, poetry, novels, movies, songs, computer software, architecture and other artistic works.
Copyright laws do not protect facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, however it may protect the way these things are expressed.
Copyright and Fair Use
Fair Use
allows students to use a limited amount of copyrighted material for educational, commentary or criticism use.
Creative Commons
a nonprofit organization that enables sharing of intellectual work through free legal tools. It is a way for the public to use copyrighted work on the authors conditions.
Public Domain
work that is not protected by copyright laws and free for the public to use.
