National Coffee Day

Who doesn't need a cup of coffee on Monday morning? Stop by the library to celebrate National Coffee Day on Monday, September 29. We'll have freshly brewed coffee and sweet breakfast treats ready at 8:00 am! Mark your calendar!

Student Library Accounts

Did you know students can renew their own books and place holds on books? A link to Destiny Quest is available on the CHS homepage. Students can log in to their Destiny accounts using their credentials (lastnamefirstnamemiddleinitial and last 5 digits of their ID number). Many students are set up to do this already. However, some student information fields did not populate correctly when the data migrated from Powerschool. A quick fix is all that is required. Students may see a member of the library staff for help with managing their Destiny accounts.
Banned Books Week is September 21-27. Celebrate your freedom to read! The top 5 challenged books nationwide last year (as reported by the American Library Association's Office for Intellectual Freedom) were the Captain Underpants series (offensive language, unsuited for age group, and violence), The Bluest Eye, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Fifty Shades of Grey, and The Hunger Games. The most frequently challenged titles of the past decade are the Harry Potter titles. Check out the lists at http://www.ala.org/bbooks/frequentlychallengedbooks to see how many you have read.
