Small Town Proud
The book fair will be in the library the week of Nov. 13-17th. Proceeds from the fair allows the library to purchase new books and other needed items. This year our school library will reach out to another small town school library. On August 25, 2017 Woodsboro, Texas was hit by Hurricane Harvey, devastating the town and damaging the school. The library would like to extend a helping hand by donating a portion of the proceeds, proving the slogan Texas Strong and adding a dash of Small Town Pride.
Texas Strong, Small Town Proud. It is who we are.

Library Letters
We must listen with our hearts, eyes, and ears. To listen with the heart we must make our self care what the other is saying, and if confrontational, don't let your emotions take over your thoughts. Acknowledge your feelings; you have the right to them; then put the focus back on the speaker. Continue listening. Listen with your eyes. Your eyes will tell you what the words aren't saying. If you look them in the eye it shows your are trying and allows you to be observant to body posturing. Of course, we hear with our ears. The key to hearing is listening. If you are thinking about your response, you are still hearing them, but not listening.
Life is full of misunderstandings, different thought processes, and personal passions. If a situation is allowed to go unchecked, it sparks the fire that is fanned by others who fail to seek to understand. Call it compassion, empathy, or weakness. Again, a personal perspective, but however you term it, this will happen even to the most practiced listener. Choosing to acknowledge our part in the situation allows us to help the medicine go down. A Dramamine, if you will, for this roller coaster ride called life. Seek to understand others, even knowing they may not seek to understand you. As undefined as this writing may read, listening is often all a person needs.
*If interested, the books mentioned by Sean Covey and Stephen R. Covey are in the library!
