Phonics
I dictate sentences to the students and their job is to write them down and swoop the sentence for fluency. Our sentences are getting longer and longer.
Blends
We are continuing Unit 8 in phonics with blends and bossy r. We did a quiz quiz trade with the blend and an ending. If the two cards made a word, they shouted Wahoo! If the two cards did not make a word, they shouted Aw, Bananas!
Reading
Unit 4 is about readers going on an adventure. We started reading fiction books again with fresh eyes. We are taking sneak peeks, looking for important parts, predicting and rereading for missed details.
Math
Our new unit is adding and subtracting with 2 digit numbers. One of our math tubs has us reviewing making 10's so that when we use the strategy of bridging to a ten, they will have had practice. Here they have to build 20 bundles of 10, before they Unbundler monster gets built.
Chrome time
We have many choices for chrome practice--typing club, ten marks, IXL math, google docs and of course, ABCYa...
Buddies
Writing what a good friend with our buddies helps us remember what good friends do. We added a shamrock because we can't forget about St. Patrick's Day!
Iditarod update--
Mitch Seavey won the race this year. Abby, Gavin O and myself picked him! Too bad we don't get any prize money. The race isn't over until the last musher and dogsled cross the finish line. It should be done by this weekend. The children will be bringing home their musher folder when their musher makes it to Nome!
Doggy Bag
1. Children should be reading nightly and bringing in their reading logs when completed.
2. Children should also be bringing in a water bottle.
3. We have daily snack time. Make sure your child has a little something to eat to get them through to lunch.
