Dismissal and Arrival Followup

Thank you, Henking families, for abiding by our

One book, One School

Our One Book, One School initiative at Henking School, is just one way our staff members work hard each day to make our learning environment one that is friendly, safe, and inclusive for all our students. Being intentional about the language we use, the texts we select to share, and how our own attitudes set the tone for our building is a priority. We continue to provide students ‘windows and mirrors’ so students are able to learn about others and see themselves reflected in the work we do.

During the week of April 17th, we asked the question,

“What makes you, YOU?”

All that week we discovered more by doing a whole-school read-aloud that explored the topic of our identity for reflection and discussion with our students and connected with our parents and the community. We welcomed you into the conversation and invited you to engage with your children in the discussion of “What makes you, YOU?” You may have, Listened to the book, “Why Am I ME?” and completed the Identity Map using the checklist to guide your conversations.

Our students play an important role in ensuring our vision is one we realize together, creating a learning environment that is friendly, safe, and inclusive for all our students. We loved exploring and learning more about the diversity in our school, and hope you felt the same. Our school goal is to continue to embed these learning opportunities throughout our students' Henking experience.

Teacher Appreciation Week: May 1st - 5th

Please join the PTA and parent volunteers as we plan a very special week to honor our teachers and staff at Henking and Hoffman, May 1st - 5th. There will be special events each day including a catered luncheon at each school. There are many ways you can help out and we need your participation to make this week a success!

NOTE:
When dropping off your items, please include where they need to be delivered and by what day/time. It would be VERY helpful if you label your contribution with your name so we know who has completed drop off. Thank you!

Spring Benefit: Parent's Night Out!

Join other Henking/Hoffman parents for a fun night with Jori Rose & The Thorns at Hangar Two on June 2nd! Heavy hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, and a Silent Auction (featuring class baskets) will round out the evening. We anticipate that this event will sell out quickly, so get your tickets now.

Volunteers are also needed to help secure donations for the silent auction and help with day-of set up. Our goal is to organize 30-50 items that will be offered as a stand alone offering or paired with a couple of other items to form a package. If you are interested in joining the PTA silent auction committee (even an hour or so a week would help!), please email Michelle Greenhaw at eventsponsorships@hehopta.org.

Donuts & Grown Ups

Second grade families are invited to stop by Crowley Park for donuts and conversation on Wednesday, May 24 from 9:00 a.m. - 9:35 a.m. (Crowley Park is located by the car drop off line). Children must be accompanied by an adult until 9:35 a.m. at which point you can escort your child to the building. Henking Staff is not responsible for supervision until school hours.

Smile Dental Volunteers Needed at Hoffman

We are still looking for several volunteers to assist with coordination of the Smile Mobile Dentist on May 5th at Hoffman. Click here to volunteer!
