- FIFTH GRADE PARENTS - Ensure your child charges their laptop Monday night to be prepared for the Physical Science NC Checkins on Tuesday, November 1st.
- Please keep your child's lunch account up to date so they have enough money on their account to purchase their breakfast/lunch and, if you allow, snacks. OCS makes it easy by having a way to make payments online!
Red Ribbon Week at CFIE! Last Dress Up Day is Monday 10/31!
Also, a huge THANK YOU to all who donated to our CHEW Food Drive! We will announce the Winning Classes on Monday during Morning Announcements! We also had classes create Posters for Red Ribbon Week - Staff will vote Monday morning to see which class wins an ice cream party for the poster that best relays this year's theme to Celebrate Life, Live Drug and Bully Free!
TITLE I NEWS!
Out first Parent Workshop was October 26th, where a lot of great strategies and resources were shared by our Title I Coach and teachers. Be sure to take advantage of the resources shared by going to our school webpage, select Families tab and Title I News and Information under the "Stay in the Know" heading!
If you have not filled out our Fall Parent Survey, then please do so using the following link. It helps us to support families and students in effective and meaningful ways. Here is the link:

Also, we have resource bags available to check out for you to use at home with your child! Please use this link https://forms.office.com/r/n18wJdfHd2 to request a bag. We have a variety of options for math, phonics, and reading. If you have previously requested a bag, they will be sent home this week π
MFLC Support Corner
Excellent Grades gain Excellent Rewards!
Students in grades K-12 who attain an overall B (S, 3.0 average, or better), in a grading period are eligible to participate in Super Star Students.
Students should visit their MCX (Marine Corps Exchange) within 30 days of receiving their report card and will receive one scratch-off card with a guaranteed prize! Each student has the opportunity to win one MCX gift card valued at $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, or $250! Must be a patron of the MCX.
Military Holiday Cards Drive!
Dear Parents, If you have a moment, please donate never-used holiday cards and blank greeting cards in support of our Military Holiday Cards Drive to benefit our military and military veterans.
Greeting cards, both those made in school and those your student(s) brings in, will be signed (first names only) and shared locally and overseas to brighten the holiday season of our Nation's Warriors past and present. Please have students submit blank greeting holiday cards by November 15, 2022 to a drop off box on the small stage in front of the Media Center.

PARENT ACADEMY
On Thursday, November 3 at 5:30 p.m., OCS College and Career Readiness will host a parent academy session focused on helping students learn to write essays for college admissions and scholarship applications.
Join the virtual session next week to meet with OCS staff and special guests to review techniques for telling your story through writing!

ENCRSC TRUNK-OR-TREAT
Tomorrow, October 29, the Eastern North Carolina Regional Skills Center will host a trunk-or-treat event. Come out to the ENCRSC campus tomorrow between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for Halloween fun and a tour of some of the districtβs career and technical education facilities!
OCS IS HIRING BUS DRIVERS!
We are hiring bus drivers! Starting pay for drivers is $16 an hour, and those who sign on now will receive a $2,500 sign-on bonus.
Training will be provided, and the district will help new hires obtain a CDL driverβs license.

BOE MEETING NOVEMBER 1
The regular monthly meeting of the Onslow County Board of Education will be held Tuesday, November 1 at 6 p.m. in the Eastern North Carolina Regional Skills Center. Agenda items include the annual independent audit report, awards of architectural services, and strategic plans for school improvement.
