DSISD ANNOUNCES TEMPORARY TRANSFER PROGRAM
Dripping Springs ISD is experiencing a high concentration of growth on three campuses – Dripping Springs Elementary, Walnut Springs Elementary, and Sycamore Springs Middle School. Because of this rapid growth, these campuses have exceeded their functional capacity.
With capacity available at other schools, the district is allowing a limited number of transfers out of these three campuses for the 2023-24 school year. The application period runs until Friday, May 26 at 5:00 p.m. More information and the application form can be found here.
DSHS ANNOUNCES CLASS OF 2023 TOP 10 SENIORS
Dripping Springs High School has announced the Top 10 students by academic rank for the Class of 2023.
Tate Anderson has been named the valedictorian and Shaun Kurian is the salutatorian. Six of the top 10 students were also named National Merit Finalists including Kurian, Teresa Brod, Evelyn Chis, Bailey Inglish, Nicholas Misko and Kinsey Silcox. All 10 students carried an overall weighted grade point average of 111 or higher.
The students will be honored during the Senior Awards Night on May 17 and at the Dripping Springs High School Graduation on May 26.

DECA RECORDS TOP-40 FINISHES AT INTERNATIONAL EVENT
Three Dripping Springs High School DECA students earned top-40 finishes at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) last week in Orlando, Florida.
Jackson Wiedemann became just the fifth Dripping Springs DECA student to be recognized as an international finalist after placing in the top 20 in Human Resources Management.
Evelyn Chis (Apparel and Accessory Marketing) and Gabriella Erb (Business Services Marketing) were both top-40 finishers. Erb also received judge’s recognition for her performance. Margot Heltzel (Business Finance) and Aidan Brunner (Automobile Services Marketing) rounded out the international competitors for Dripping Springs.
Each student faced off against 400 other competitors from across the United States and seven countries in their respective events. Students had to master a content exam and two case study scenarios, and were judged on a variety of factors including creativity, content knowledge, and professionalism.
The DSHS DECA program had a record-breaking spring with 47 students qualifying for state and 15 advancing to the state finals. In March, DSHS also qualified a record seven students for the ICDC.
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
DSHS ART STUDENTS EARN ALL-STATE HONORS
Five Dripping Springs High School art students earned all-state recognition at the Texas Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) competition on April 29 in San Marcos.
In addition to all-state honors, Brooklyn Rice was awarded a Gold Seal, the highest state recognition, for her piece. Also earning all-state recognition for Dripping Springs was Katherine Ferno, Isabella Fletcher, Jackie Garcia, and Jacob Pitts. Fletcher was an all-state honoree last year and Ferno was a medalist in 2021.
Each year, student pieces from DSHS are entered in the VASE competition where they present their work and defend their pieces in front of a judges' panel. The five students qualified for the state event after receiving all-area distinction at the Region 13 South competition in February.

THREE TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES ADVANCE TO STATE
Three Dripping Springs High School track and field athletes qualified for the UIL 6A State Meet after finishing second in their respective events at the Region IV-6A Meet on April 28-29 at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio.
Senior Ava Williamson advanced to the state competition for the second consecutive year after clearing five feet four inches in the high jump. In the discus, junior Tomsen Vickery set a school record with a throw of 181 feet three inches on his final attempt to qualify for the state meet for the first time.
On the track, senior Sophia Farris advanced to state in the 300-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 42.29, lowering her previous record by .67 seconds.
The three athletes will compete in the UIL State Meet on Saturday, May 13 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.
