Knightly Update January 3, 2021
Edition Vol 9 Issue 21
Welcome to 2021! I hope everyone enjoyed the break and had the opportunity to safely spend some quality time with one another. I am excited to see our students in a couple days and look forward to hearing about their winter break happenings. Here's to a great second semester!
As you know, students have the option to return in person on January 5 or participate via virtual instruction through Friday, January 15. Families were asked to indicate their preferred method of instruction for the initial nine days of the semester by completing a short form. If you have not yet completed this request, please do so in order for us to plan appropriately for the return of our students. You can complete this form by clicking here. As a reminder, if you want to change your response, simply complete the form again. We will base your choice on the most recent date and time stamp submitted. Thank you.
As teachers prepare to teach both in person and virtual lessons simultaneously, please know the following parameters will be followed:
- Provided instruction will be something that all students will be able to do/participate in without requiring students to come in and make up extra work (projects, tests, labs, etc.) once the virtual period of instruction concludes.
- Students will not be required to go out and purchase extra materials that students are being provided in class.
- If an assessment is administered during the initial two weeks of the semester, the assessment will be provided to both virtual and in person students in a manner that all students can complete on the day/time assigned.
- Students that choose to participate virtually will not have any additional requirements or be asked to make-up any materials upon their return.
Obviously, simultaneously teaching students in person and virtually will pose some challenges that our instructors have worked hard to prepare for and will continue to work through. In the end, we simply want to teach our students to the best of our ability while helping them learn and succeed. I thank the teaching staff for all they have done and will be doing to prepare lessons for their students these initial couple of weeks. They have always kept their students best interest in mind as we worked through the first semester. We will continue to focus on meeting the educational needs of all of our students, but your patience and understanding during the initial nine days of this semester will be appreciated. Please continue to monitor district and Governing Board communiques and meetings throughout the days and weeks ahead. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to contact me. I look forward to seeing everyone soon. Happy New Year, Knights.
Rob Bickes
Principal

Making Up Semester 1 Final Exams
Students who were absent for last semester's final exams will need to make up their exams these next couple weeks. We encourage students to work with their teachers to coordinate the taking of their exam by Friday, January 15. For students that are choosing to participate in virtual instruction and need to make up a final exam, we are offering an after school opportunity to take exams on Thursday, January 7. If you are interested in registering for this opportunity, please email Dr. Vezzosi. Additional opportunities, if necessary, will be communicated in next week's update. Students who are electing to participate in virtual instruction and do not want to take their final(s) during this time, will need to coordinate a time to make-up their exams the week of January 18. We will work with students to ensure finals are completed and grades updated appropriately.
