Canby High School Family Newsletter
For the Week of February 24th to March 2nd, 2022
Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students and Families!
Our second trimester is rapidly approaching its end. Do you know that final exams are less than three weeks away? Students, now is the time to engage with your teachers and make sure you are in a position to finish strongly. Additionally, next Monday we will have an Earthquake Drill, followed by an evacuation drill. It is important that we practice our safety protocols so we are ready in the event of an emergency.
Our swim teams competed at the state championship this past weekend and our girls placed 10th out of all 6A schools, their best finish since 2007, and our boys finished 22nd. Congratulations to Kali Mull, Avery Keinonen, Allison Yancey, Amanda Yancey, Kennedy Hester, Hunter DeRisio, Connor DeRisio, Kai Laitinen, Jack Hayhurst, and Isaac Beck. It was a great season and you represented CHS so well!
Our boys wrestling team competed at the district wrestling tournament at Oregon City High School this past weekend, winning the district tournament for the first time in a decade to go along with their league dual meet title. The meet was hard fought and Canby scored 371.5 to top West Linn by 9.5 points, a reminder that every point counts! The following wrestlers placed in the district meet, with an * by those that qualified for the state tournament this Saturday and Sunday at Sandy High School:
Matthew Young* 1st, Austin Matthews 4th, Brady Froyd 6th, Craig Williams* 2nd, Nico Yazzolino 5th, Ty Ewers* 1st, Landon Sprague* 3rd, Benjamin Young 5th, Thomas Marquez 5th, Peter Sansone 6th, Zach Netter 5th, Ethan Ensrud* 2nd, James Keinonen* 3rd, Wyatt Samarin* 2nd, Jackson Doman* 3rd, Cash Montgomery* 2nd, Isaiah Parsons 5th, Luke Harms 6th, Matthew Hagen* 1st, and Colin Kennedy *1st.
