Gresham Go - To

Weekly Staying Connected While Apart

We just want to say thank you so much for this church body who has so graciously allowed us to take vacation this summer. Without you stepping up to preach, lead in music, record offering, unlock the church, clean, and pray for us while we've been gone - we would not have been able to enjoy time with our family. THANK YOU!!

We were so blessed by worship on Sunday. The freedom of singing, the testimonies, poem, the message - we realize even more than ever that we are ALL needed and have our own ministry. Even as Sunday worship service came to a close - more testimonies and scriptures came. We praise God for Wayne's successful surgeries and are looking forward to his return! I was also encouraged by the Bible verses shared by Heather:

"For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will hep you grow strong in the Lord. 'When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours." As we walk out on the waters together, let's continue to encourage each other in the Lord!

Majors Celestine & Shoshannah Ruwethin

Monday M-unch @ 12 PM

This Monday, August 24, Major Celestine will be picking up 100 prepared PB & J boxed lunches from Portland Moore Street. This is a time for you to take those simple lunches (with a partner or more) and give them out in the community to share God's love. Meet us at the church on Monday for a Ministry-Lunch - put that together makes Monday M-unch!! Are you ready to get even more involved in ministry? Please let us know if we should expect you @ 12 pm. :)

Wayne Mason - Wayne's World

Continue to pray for Wayne's healing and his testimony. You can encourage him and keep up to date with his progress here:

You can also send cards to him at:

Sunday Ministry

It does seem that the church has really enjoyed service outside. Praise the Lord that our service time and the shade in the covered basketball court can be warm - but comfortable. We'd love to accommodate keeping service outside when the weather is good. But we are asking for your help in ministry on Sunday mornings at 9 AM in these ways:

Setting up chairs

Bringing out sound equipment

Setting up sound equipment

Picking up trash around the property

Greeters at a welcome desk

If we all help, it goes much faster. Then you can take a quick break to grab breakfast or coffee before church. :) We also are always looking for people who would like to:

Read scripture

Share your personal testimony

Share special music/vocal, poem, drama, etc.

Please let us know if you will partner in ministry. With that said, we are having service outside again this Sunday. Remember to bring water and prayerfully we'll see you at 9 AM to help.

Blessings Anya!

This will be Anya Henderson's last Sunday before leaving for college. Anya, we are all proud of you and are excited to see even more of God's working in your life. We know we won't see you as often - but pray you'll make the hour drive as many weekends as you can. :)

Back to School

What are your plans for your children going back to school? Will you be working from home with your children? Will you need all day care? Every day? Some days? Afterschool care? Will you need school supplies? Please let us know as school is around the corner. As a church we'd love to provide a community need but are still trying to process and weigh out our options.

Thank You to Our Retired Officers

We praise the Lord for the faithful service of officers/pastors in The Salvation Army. Two more couple will be joining the ranks of retired officers: Majors Elicio and Darlan Marquez and Majors Michael and Susan Nute. A special "Book of Letters" is usually prepared and given upon retirement. If you would like to send in a letter, please feel free to drop off a letter unfolded letter, marked "confidential" to the officers and we will make sure they get them.
