Well-implemented technology gives classroom staff loads of tools for teaching students with a broad range of learning styles. The time investment in learning new technology will make teaching easier and assist students in advocating for their life-long learning. This newsletter PD is intended to help you learn new technologies at High Point a little bit at a time, slowly filling up your teaching toolbox throughout this chaotic school year.

All Turn It Spinner

The All Turn It Spinner gives students access to making random choices independently. Students can spin via the big red button on the front of the spinner or by activating any switch plugged in to the side of the spinner. The red pointer and the center disk both spin independent of each other, so the red pointer will point at one spot on the outer ring and one spot on the inner disk. Both the outer ring and the inner disk can be flipped over to display a dry erase surface that can be written on with dry erase marker. Add student names or numbers or activities here to randomly choose with a spin of the pointer. Add Velcro to the outer ring and LessonPix or Boardmaker symbols can quickly be Velcroed to the outer ring to make a choice between colors, animals, word endings or anything needed to enhance the lesson. The inner disk can also be replaced by the spinner disk of many board games that have spinners. Just take out the included disk and replace it with the game disk.

The All Turn It Spinner is easy to use. There are lots of creative ways to use it in the classroom. Check out the manual (starting on page 5) that was left with the spinner in the classroom for ideas to modify the spinner for many board games and for other classroom activities. Who is it for?

The All Turn It Spinner is great for switch users, but can be used by anyone for a simple to use, large print, high contrast spinner

Setup Instructions

Each time the spinner is activated, there is an 8 second delay before another spin can be activated. This is to discourage perseveration on the spinner and allow for the spin to be read.

There are 2 plastic feet on the back of the spinner that can be pulled out to prop the spinner up.


This spinner uses 2 C Batteries, which are installed in the back of the spinner. You will need a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the battery compartment door. If the speed of the spinner is decreasing, you may need fresh batteries. The clear plastic cover over the pointer and inner disk needs to be in place and rotated slightly for the spinner to work.

The spinner can be wiped down with Clorox wipes as needed.
