Primary Points to Ponder
We will have some students from Kilgore College this fall who need observation hours. Sign up to have someone come to your room.
Find your name and fill out the information. This will take the place of updating Teacher Websites this year. This is due by September 18.
The Region 7 Digital Learning Department would like highlight your district subscription to Discovery Education. Below you will find the codes for teachers that do not have an account to create individual teacher accounts as well as short videos on how to create accounts. If teachers think they have an account, they can use the forgot password link. We would be more than willing to help you or a designee in managing teacher and student accounts for the 19-20 school year. If your district has never created student access to Discovery Ed, we would strongly encourage you to allow this to increase usage of these high-quality, vetted resources.
To promote teacher usage, we have created online courses to help teachers learn more about DE . These run in September and November. However, we would be glad to have one customized for your district. If you have links on your website to what used to be United Streaming, please make sure they are up to date and direct teachers to discoveryeducation.com.
Also, as part of your subscription, the DL department provides a complementary in-district training. We would love to schedule a time we can come out and work with you and a lead team on the great resources found in Discovery Ed. Please let us know when and where works best for you.
If you have any questions about your subscription(s), please let us know.

From the Custodians:
A Few Reminders to help us out:
- Playdough needs to be used on the tile area only
- Check with your custodian about what to have picked up before they come to clean the room. Custodians can clean more of the room if the students pick up the room before they leave during the cleaning time.
The Golden Dustpan
This will be given to 2 classes each month who:
- Students pick up after themselves in the classroom: Crayons, toys, etc off the floor
- Tidy room- A room that custodians and focus on disinfecting
- Bathroom- No paper on the floors of the bathroom
- Trash is in the trash can
Cafeteria during Lunches:
- There will be a custodian on duty in the cafeteria during lunches.
- Child Nutrition will clean the tables in between lunches.
- How you can help- Train students to keep food on the tray. Wipe spills onto the trays and not onto the floors. We can train students to wipe tables as well. Keeping the floors clean will prevent injuries.
From the Counselor
Signs that a student may need to receive food:
*Rushes to the cafeteria line - pushes to be first or cuts in line
*Sits down and immediately begins eating/focused on the food in front of them
*Consistently cleaning their plate, not throwing food away
*Asking others for food
*Exhibits extreme hunger in the mornings arriving to school
*Some might have poor hygiene, difficulty concentrating, frequent illness
*They might try and 'save' food in their pockets to take home
Please get these in as soon as possible. Students who we know are homeless or lacking resources need to be referred early on. Wit many of our students qualifying as economically disadvantaged, we may have a good size group getting weekend help.
Walker will fill out from there.
