Workout Wednesdays!!

Coach Cutter and Mrs. O'Neill worked our leg muscles this week. Everyone spent 30 seconds doing squatting leg kicks and another 30 seconds doing deep lunge bounces. Phew - we were all sore after those exercises!

Acres Green Student Lighthouse Team - Making a Difference in Colorado

At Acres Green, we have a Student Lighthouse Team that meets Wednesday mornings at 7:30 a.m. These student leaders head up different Student Action Teams. One of our Student Action Teams is community outreach. These students wanted to help support the Coloradans that suffered devastating losses due to the catastrophic fires in Boulder County. The rest of our Student Lighthouse Team fully supported this endeavor and the whole school is participating in our Penny Wars (see details below) in an effort to raise monies to donate to the Boulder County Wildfire Fund. The Penny Wars take place from January 18th to January 28th. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

SEEKING PARENT MEMBER FOR OUR SCHOOL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAC)

Our School is seeking a parent member for the remainder of the 21/22 School Year


What is the SAC?

The purpose of the SAC is to inform, encourage and provide opportunities for parent and community members to be involved in the planning and evaluation of the school’s instructional program and quality improvement processes.

In 2009, the State of Colorado passed SB 09-163, the Education Accountability Act. This legislation mandates that every public school have a School Accountability Committee. SACs should be composed of seven voting members: the principal, one teacher, three parents or legal guardians of students enrolled in the school, a PTO adult, and one community member with no children attending the school.


What are the responsibilities?

  • Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) – review and give feedback on the school’s UIP. This document defines the school’s academic goals and action plans.

  • Budget priorities – make informed recommendations to the principal regarding spending priorities for budget expenditures of the building.

  • Topical discussions – Safety issues, Community concerns, General community feedback


When are the meetings?

  • We will have 2 additional meetings for the 21/22 school year. These meetings will be scheduled once we have all the members for our SAC. Meetings typically occur on Tuesdays at 5 p.m.

Junior Recess Coaches (JRC)

We are so excited to announce our Junior Recess Coaches for the Spring Semester! Seventeen 5th Grade students were selected to lead our 1st and 2nd Graders during recess on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These 5th grade leaders took a training on Thursday and learned about various games they can play with the younger students, conflict resolution techniques, and tips/tricks to engage everyone in games!

PTO Thank You

The PTO Board approved the purchase of iPad storage units for our Kindergarten - 3rd Grade classrooms. They also voted to buy every teacher an electric pencil sharpener. And, they are going to support the annual refresh of chromebooks by providing funds for 30 new devices.
