PBIS News
It has been lively here at Fleming School! Last week we were challenged to get outside and move our bodies - and move them we did! With the frigid temperatures behind us, classes took a break from academics to recharge our minds and replenish our energy. Classrooms were challenged to get outside during a time other than recess, and we enjoyed this challenge! Students, teachers and staff could be seen daily taking a couple laps around the school and playground. The fresh air is helping to cure all those nasty bugs circulating at this time of the year.
To celebrate our “Healthy Choices” success we have had some fun activities. We had an amazing “Nap Day!” Students recommended this as a celebration, and we all enjoyed 45 minutes of quiet time to read, draw, and a few of us even napped! Last week we celebrated with “Flannel Friday,” the perfect ending for a chilly Vermont week.
It’s hard to believe we are already in Week #4 of our Rocket Boost Your Way to a Healthy New Year! This week students were challenged to find an inspirational quote and share it with a classroom they are not partnered with. Not only did classes share quotes, many were turned into beautiful posters to be shared with the whole school.
To celebrate earning 11 eggs we had a whole school dance party today! Teams Endeavor, Synergy and Mountaineer rocked their team colors, and everyone sported a glow necklace while dancing to our favorite tunes. What a way to end a great week! What a great way to celebrate being Safe, Kind, Respectful and Responsible.

Gender Diversity Youth Support Group
Dear Families,
Thomas Fleming School is offering an opportunity for any Fleming School student to take part in our first Gender Diversity Youth Support Group! This group is in response to student advocacy on this topic and the need to respond supportively to the questions and needs of transgender, and gender non-conforming youth and their allies. It creates a safe space to begin conversation and gently approach topics they will face more directly as they approach puberty. The discussions, which invite youth to share what is on their minds, and find support and resources, is facilitated by non-binary youth and Thomas Fleming School Counselor, Coori Sellers.
Here are a couple of our goals as we prepare for our first meeting:
Provide a supportive environment for children and preadolescents to explore issues of gender identity
Keep conversations light and lively, and encourage deeper level discussions in a developmentally appropriate way
Develop our group mission and goals
Play games and have fun!
Please contact me if you have any questions or want to sign your student up for our weekly meetings during a lunch/ recess block. The best way to sign your student up is to send me an email to me.
Sincerely,
Coori Sellers

Box Top Competition Round 2
There's also the option of scanning your receipt to bring money into the school, but unfortunately, there is no way currently to have them select a classroom currently.
All you have to do is download the app, and select Fleming at your home school, and scan your receipt when you're done grocery shopping!
Traffic Safety at Afternoon Pick Up
Just a friendly reminder of State Law, there is no idling in your vehicles, in front of the school. This is for the health and safety of the students, staff and others waiting outside to pick up their children. If you’re going to be waiting for more than 5 minutes, please shut off your engine while you wait. Or park your car in a visitors parking space and come inside to pick up your student and escort them to your vehicle. On below zero days we will have a cup of hot cider waiting for drivers who come inside and park their cars.
Please no illegal parking on Prospect Street. It is extremely unsafe to have students running across driveway and street traffic to enter a vehicle.
No idling please and no parking in no parking posted places. PLease do not park in fire lanes that circle the school building exterior.
