Chapman families,
Happy Sunday and Happy Mother's Day to all of our Chapman families! I hope that you get a chance to soak in this beautiful weather today!
As our school year winds down, there are many fun and exciting events taking place at Chapman! Please take a few minutes to review this week's newsletter!
- If your student is participating in the Talent Show Practice after school on Monday, May 15, please send in a note indicating that they will be staying after school.
- If your student will be buying a school lunch on the last day of school, Friday, May 26, please complete the form below to help Mrs. Koncz with her order for this date!
- Last day of school early release times
- The lost and found has many items! If your student is missing an belongings, please take a minute to check in at the office and look for any items you may be missing!
- If you're student will be enrolling elsewhere for the 23/24 school year, please complete the form below. This will help Mrs. Mesenger with record's requests for your student's next school.
- Students in Gr. 3-12 will be keeping their district chromebook this summer
May 15-19 is Right to Read Week at Chapman and We LAVA to READ! Students are encouraged to wear a Hawaiian/tropical or neon colored shirt on Monday for our school-wide kick-off assembly! Please see additional details below.

Grs. 3-12 Students Will Be Keeping Their District Chromebook This Summer
Students in Grs. 3-12 will be keeping their Chromebooks over the summer break. Students will be responsible for keeping the Chromebooks and their cases in working order for use next year. If your student does experience any issues with their Chromebook over the summer, please click HERE or visit bit.ly/scssummertechticket to submit a Tech Ticket. A Tech Department member will contact you within two business days to assist. If your student is leaving the district over the summer, they will need to turn in their Chromebook on the last day of school. Please click HERE or visit bit.ly/scscbl to submit your student’s name to inform our department to collect the Chromebook. *The Administration Building and all Library Branches will be closed on Sunday, May 28th and Monday, May 29th in honor of the Memorial Day Holiday. We will resume normal hours on Tuesday, May 30th at 9:00 a.m.

Seed Library!
To spread knowledge of local food systems, cultivate skills required for sustainable food production, and to help make seeds more accessible to those in the community, the Strongsville Branch Library has partnered with the Cleveland Seed Bank to offer a selection of different varieties of organic, open-pollinated, non-GMO vegetable, herb, & edible flower seeds. Please stop by the Strongsville Branch to pick-up your free seeds! Customers will be able to “check-out” 5 seed packets per month. Please call (440) 238-5530 for more information. Arranging Evan Hansen. Monday, May 1st / 7:00 p.m.
Join us to learn about the hidden role of Broadway’s arrangers/orchestrators by examining the score of Dear Evan Hansen. Though composed by super team Pasek and Paul, Dear Evan Hansen was arranged by Alex Lacamoire, whose credits also include Hamilton, In the Heights, Bring It On: The Musical, 9 to 5, and the 2012 revival of Annie. Lacamoire’s signature sound permeates Dear Evan Hansen and directs the drama in subtle but important ways. “Arranging Evan Hansen” allows audiences to recognize Lacamoire’s contribution while enjoying the musical’s score at an even deeper level.

A book club for adults who love Children's and Teen books. The title for our next discussion is Welcome to Dweeb Club by Betsy Uhrig. No registration. Everyone Welcome!

Have you ever thought about recording your own music, making a video, digitizing memories and more? The Strongsville Branch Library is home to both Audio and Video Recording studios that can help you do just that! You must go through an orientation to use the spaces. Patrons 11 & up can participate in the orientation and must turn in the User Agreement form at the branch for the orientation to count. Register online to attend the virtual or in-person sessions.

Computer Classes IN PERSON.
Cuyahoga County Public Library offers computer classes for beginners to advanced. Classes are currently being held in-person as well as some VIRTUALLY which requires a web browser and an internet connection. There is no additional software to download. Google Chrome is the recommended browser. A valid email address is required for registration. Registrants will receive an email with a link to join the class at least an hour before the start time. Southwest Health Talk: Lifestyle Changes to Prevent Diabetes. Tuesday, May 23rd / 10:00 a.m.
Monica L. Kravetz MSN-Ed, RN, Diabetes Nurse Educator from Southwest General Health Center, will share simple tips to help you prevent Diabetes and take control of your health.
Down by the Old Mill Stream Run. Tuesday, May 23rd / 7:00 p.m.
Cleveland Metroparks Historian, Judy MacKeigan, will share this presentation on the history of the Mill Stream Run Reservation. Among the many features of Mill Stream Run Reservation are the first refrigerated toboggan chutes in the United States, old quarry lands turned into lakes, and Camp Cheerful, where people of all abilities can experience the joy of summer camp. Learn about this reservation and its long and interesting history. Program presented by the Strongsville Historical Society in partnership with the Strongsville Branch Library.
Calling All Pokemon Trainers! All Ages. Wednesday, May 31st / 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Bring your family, bring your friends, and explore more than 15 PokeStops and Gyms between the library and the Strongsville Rec Center. Drop a few lures, join in a raid, and catch ‘em all.

Shared Food Guidelines
The District adheres to guidelines for shared food and snacks so that we can promote safety, consistency, and equal access for the growing number of children who have life-threatening food allergies.
Red, White, Blue Encore Calendar
Students attend Encore Classes (Art, Music, PE) during a specific "color" week. Your child's teacher will share their specific class Encore Schedule with you. (Example: If I have PE on red weeks, I would want to dress appropriately (wear tennis shoes) on the days that are shaded red on the calendar).

Before and After School Child Care
Strongsville City Schools partners with Right at School to provide families with before and after school childcare opportunities. The program is located right here at Chapman! For more information and for program registration, please visit their website.
