Hello Tigers!

Canadian author, Scott Hayden, is quoted, "Teachers have three loves: love of learning, love of learners, and the love of bringing the first two loves together". On this day, that specifically reminds us of the importance of love in our life, no words ring truer. For a variety of reasons, I have often said I have one of the best jobs in the world, not the least of which is to witness these words come to fruition at Raleigh Park. Indeed, many of us live out a daily calling, with the belief we were put here for the specific purpose of loving other people's children. My sincere desire is that you and your children believe and feel this to be true as well.

My best,

Immunization Exclusion Day

State law requires that all children in public and private schools, preschools, Head Start and certified child care facilities have up-to-date immunizations, or have a medical or nonmedical exemption. Parents or guardians will receive a letter in early February if their child’s immunization record shows that he or she has not received the required vaccinations. Children will not be able to attend school or childcare starting February 19, 2020, if their records on file show missing immunizations. The Beaverton School-Based Health Center and the Merlo School-Based Health Center are both resources for families in the Beaverton School District to get immunizations.

Middle School Boundary Advisory Committee Update

The Middle School Boundary Adjustment Advisory Committee continues their work, with the next meeting scheduled for February 25 at Whitford - 7935 SW Scholls Ferry Road, Beaverton, OR 97008: meeting begins at 6:30p (doors will open at 6:00p). Please visit the Middle School Boundary Adjustments webpage for information and meeting materials.

As of the February 13 committee meeting, the plan is to revise and consolidate the working maps. Of note, one significant development was a proposal to unify all Raleigh Park students under one roof at Whitford; a proposal that had unanimous support among the committee members. HOWEVER, this is anything but final, as there is sill plenty of work to be done on the north side of the District that could trickle back our way. Stay tuned!

Please drop your donations in the black bin in the school lobby, or come to the office for assistance. Also, we need Tiger Den volunteers! Common Middle School Experience

The Beaverton School District is working on a common comprehensive middle school experience, which includes middle school course offerings and schedules that are standardized across the District. Currently, period lengths vary and the number of elective courses students can access are not consistent.

The Beaverton School District is seeking your input. All feedback received will be used to help Superintendent Grotting make a decision about how best to move forward.

Feel free to reach out to our middle school principals with any additional questions or if you need any more information. Your feedback in this process is greatly appreciated.
