Arctic Tundra
Artic Tundra Food Web
The sun provides the producers like grass with sunlight allowing them to make their own energy then that energy is transferred to the primary consumers when they eat the plants. Next the primary consumers like musk ox and caribou are then often chased down and killed by the secondary consumers transferring the primary consumers energy to them. Then once the secondary consumers like arctic wolves (the top dogs in this food web) die their energy is transferred to decomposers like bacteria.
Mutualism
An arctic bumblebee is provided with nectar from a arctic poppy and the arctic poppy is given pollination in return from the arctic bumblebee getting nectar.
Commensalism
An arctic fox will follow a polar bear to where it feeds and will then scavenge the remains.
Parasitism
A liver tape worm will live within an Arctic wolfs intestines eating the nutrients come through.
How humans are impacting the enviorment.
Humans have hurt and helped the environment in several ways and here is a few ways we have. We have positively affected the environment by having captive breeding which allows us to protect animals from outside predators and keep them from going extinct. We also release these animals once we breed them once we raise the population. We also have started cleaning the waterways, getting rid of most of the junk that we have let get into the rivers, by doing this it helps prevent floods and helps protect the habitat. We also have starting using renewable energy instead of burning fossil fuels affecting the air we breath. We have negatively affected the environment by causing water pollution through fertilizer run off and oil spills causing the rivers and oceans to be polluted and kill off the fish inhabiting the area. We also pollute the air through burning fossil fuels and the toxic gases made in factories this has caused millions of deaths and affects the air we breath. Finally we have polluted the soil from pesticides, herbicides, waste from processing industries, nuclear waste, etc. it has caused some soil to be virtually lifeless and have no nutrients.
Grass
Grass is a producer that makes its own energy. As a producer it has the most amount of energy and supplies most of the energy that goes to the animals.
Musk Ox
Musk Ox is a primary consumer it eats mostly producers and gets its energy from those plants. It also provides a way for the energy to be transferred from animal to animal as a secondary consumer like the Arctic Wolf will consume the Musk Ox gaining its energy from it.
Snowy Owl
Snowy Owl is a Secondary consumer and is a top predator in this food web. It prays on primary consumers like the Arctic Lemming and doesn't have much threat of being killed itself. It is a carnivore and eats those primary consumers for its energy. Then once it dies it is decomposed by bacteria.
