Dear Parents/ Guardians,
As we transition into the colder months, I would like to take a moment to remind our students about the importance of keeping their coats and winter gear in their lockers during the school day.
The safety and well-being of our students are of paramount importance, and as an educational institution, we are committed to ensuring a safe and comfortable learning environment. With the colder weather approaching, it is vital that our students are adequately prepared for the outdoor elements. Therefore, I would like to emphasize the following points:
Dressing for the Weather: Please encourage your child to dress appropriately for the weather. While we do our best to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature, it can be significantly colder outside. Ensuring that your child is dressed warmly with a suitable coat, gloves, and a hat will help them stay comfortable as travel to and from school.
Locker Use: Our students are encouraged to utilize their lockers for storage. It is essential that they place their coats, along with other winter accessories, in their lockers during the school day. This will prevent clutter in the classrooms and hallways and allow for efficient movement during transitions.
Lost and Found: In the event that your child misplaces their belongings, we have a lost and found area in the school. Please remind your child to check this area if they cannot locate their coat.
Labeling Belongings: We recommend labeling your child's coat and other personal items with their name to avoid any confusion or mix-ups.
By working together and ensuring that our students are prepared for the colder weather, we can maintain a positive and productive learning environment. Your support in reinforcing these important measures is greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter or any other aspect of your child's education, please do not hesitate to contact us at (614) 491-8044 or jcoalter@hlsd.org. We are always here to assist you and your child in any way we can.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we prepare for the colder weather ahead. We look forward to a successful and safe winter season at Hamilton Middle School.
My best,
Mrs. Jennifer Coalter
Career Exploration Medical Professional Speakers
Students in our 8th Grade Career Exploration class recently spent the day listening to and interacting with medical students from the Ohio Health Physician Diversity Scholars Program. These amazing humans who are all medical students of varying degrees took time out of their busy lives to come in and share their experiences, advice, and passion for helping others with our students. Students learned about their journey through high school, college, the health sciences career cluster, and eventually medical school. In addition to our visit to Nationwide Children's Hospital, this was a great way to wrap up our exploration of the Health Sciences Career Cluster.

Holiday Help
As we enter the holiday season, we're thrilled to once again introduce our Holiday Help Program here at HLS, a heartwarming initiative that aims to provide Holiday assistance to our students in need. It's a time of year when our community can truly come together and make a positive impact on the lives of those less fortunate.
The Hat, Glove, and Sock Drive starts this week! All donations can be turned into your child's AIM teacher. The AIM that collects the most items will earn donuts and juice at the completion of the donation drive!

Dismissal Reminders
Please make sure your child knows of their transportation arrangements each day. If a change needs to be made, please contact the school BEFORE 2:00 so we can get the message to your child. Contacting the school after 2:00 does not guarantee that your child will get the message.
Car Rider Reminders
1. Car riders should exit the building using the front doors.
2. Students should enter the vehicle once it has pulled up to the sidewalk area. If you do not see your student, please continue to move forward so we can keep the line moving.
3. Students should not be walking across the parking lot or the grassy area to get to a car that is not yet to the sidewalk. This causes a significant safety concern!
4. Drivers, please drive slowly, follow the flow of traffic and be patient!
Student safety is of utmost importance! Please help us keep our students safe by following these guidelines.
